Page 2 Campus News The Clarion | March 28.2014 Jazz Ensemble will present an evening of Glenn Miller and more The Brevard College Jazz Ensembles will present an unforgettable evening of music made famous by Glenn Miller and other big band greats on Tuesday, April 1 in the College’s Porter Center for Performing Arts. The 7:30 p.m. concert is free and open to the public. The 18-piece student ensemble will present nostalgic performances of classic swing dance tunes such as: In The Mood, Moonlight Serenade, Pennsylvania 6-5000, Little Brown Jug, among many others with a sprinkling of Sarah Vaughn, Sammy Nestico, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald and even Ray Charles. Dr. Joyce spoke with Sierra Club on March 27 on his environmental vision for BC Jamie Ellisor J oyce mentioned in his speech that Brevard Coiiege is currentiy doing many different environmentai friendiy actions such as recyciing, banning Styrofoam, and determining the schooi's carbon foot print. His future pians include reducing our carbon footprint, making campus more pedestrian friendiy, and making both oid and new dorms energy efficient. Dr. Joyce aiso mentioned starting a biking program, just like he started at his previous college, to reduce the amount of driving on campus. James Smith ^r.
