What advice would you give to other Brevard
College students (and future graduates)?
I could tell you a lot of things to do,
where to go and which class to attend, but
there is no fun in doing that. Do what you
think is right for you, for your education,
because ultimately it’s for your future.
Graduate with a sense of content and not
regret in the things you did or did not do.
Good luck to everyone next year!

I think an important thing to know,
especially for freshmen and sophomores,
is that college is really what you make it.
Your time at Brevard College ean be one
of the best times of your life, but you have
to decide that it’s going to be. The college
can plan programs and events, but they
cannot make you attend—^you have to do
that. The eollege ean set you up in an FYE
class to meet people, but you have to make
friends. It’s very easy to sit in your dorm
room instead of going to class or going to
hang out. It’s easy to complain that there’s
nothing to do or nowhere to go. If you
want to have a good time in college, take
steps to make that happen. Invite people
to go somewhere. Go to an optional event.
Make your experienee what you want.

Know that you can change your mind.

Life goes by too fast, and your eollege
years will fly by. Take time to slow down
and enjoy every moment. What you
think is a little moment turns out to be
the memories that stiek with you. Take
chanees, try something new and out of
your eomfort zone. Remember everything
the city of Brevard, the eommunity, and the
college have to offer; all you have to do is
look around as there are so many memories
to be made.

Take advantage of the beautiful outdoors
around campus. There are numerous places
to swim, hike, climb, etc.

“No matter what anyone says, just show
up and do the work.
If they praise you, show up and do the
work. If they criticize you, show up and do
the work. If no one even notices you, just
show up and do the work.
Just keep showing up, doing the work,
and leading the way.
Lead with passion.
Fuel up with optimism.
Have faith.
Power up with love.
Maintain hope.
Be stubborn.
Fight the good fight.
Refuse to give up.
Ignore the critics.
Believe in the impossible.
Show up.
Do the work.
You’ll be glad you did.
True grit leads to true success.”

Sometimes college is hard, but even
during the sad times and the stressful
times, always continue to enjoy the people
around you. You will never get this time
back. Don’t wish your time here away
because it is one of the most rewarding
times and challenging times of my life and
I wish I could do it all over again.

Make the best of every opportunity.

Try to be involved in some way!

Support the arts at your college and in
your community. The arts help us to see the
world around us and artists help to define
the culture of a community. If you don’t
pay attention to the art around you, you
may be missing out on wonderful avenues
for entertainment and enlightenment.
