BC student Abi Fuesler took on the responsibility of being the AEC’s head coordinator in fulfilling her senior project requirement to graduate this Fall. In the early months of preparation, - -ir, they “discussed broader logistics like choosing a theme, a place, a date,” Fuesler said. “As it progressed, planning became more detailed and in depth.” Fuesler first learned about the AEC when wilderness leadership professor Jenny Kafsky asked Fuesler and fellow student Shannon Kerr to present at the 2018 conference following their Voice of the Rivers experience. Brevard College was later chosen to host the 2019 AEC. So in the Spring of 2019, Fuesler took a course titled Outdoor Program Admin with Kafsky to begin planning alongside her peers. Roughly 233 people attended the AEC including representatives from schools in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
