March 4, 2020 | The Clarion Sports Page 7 BC faces off against Pfeiffer By Carmen Boone Copy Editor Brevard College faced olf against Pfeiffer College on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 1 p.m. at the McCoy Tennis Complex. In men’s doubles, Ethan McGee and Jackson Ray played Raul Ruiz and Masters of Pfeiffer but fell short with a score of 0-8. At two doubles, Andrew Ingram and JaMarcus Walker lost 3-8 to Trey Speight and Taylor. Three doubles was a loss by default for Brevard, for lack of a number six player. McGee lost at one singles 0-6, 0-6 to Ruiz. At two singles, Ray split sets with Philipp Conaway. He won the first 6-4, lost the second 6-7, but won a third set tiebreaker 10-4 for the win. Ingram also split sets but ultimately fell to Speight. The scores were 1-6, 6-4 and 7-10 in the third set tiebreaker. At four singles was Walker playing Braxton Harris. He fell short with a score of 4-6, 1-6. Brysen Hall played at number five but lost 1-6, 0-6 to Thiago Machado. Brevard forfeited six singles for lack of a number six player. The men fought hard but lost 1-7 to Pfeiffer. The women faired better than the men. At one doubles, Sam Sepe and Alii Kogoy won 8-0 against Haylee Dixon and Sydney Gray. Hamrick Perry and Margaret Correll at two doubles fell short scoring 7-9 against Anna Branson and Blithe Hudson. At three doubles, Jen Cox and Sarah locovozzi beat Emma Beacham and Honeycutt 9-7. Sepe won again at one singles 6-2, 6-1 versus Branson. At two singles, Kogoy won against Gray 6-2, 6-0. Cox fell short to Darby Sherrill at three singles with a score of 3-6, 2-6. Perry split sets with Dixon at four singles but ultimately lost. Her scores were 6-0, 4-6 and 3-6 in a third set. locovozzi won at five singles against Hudson scoring6-3,6-0. Correll won six singles 6-4, 6-1 against Beacham. The women rounded out the match with a 6-3 triumph over Pfeiffer. The next match will be away at Covenant College on March 21 at 1 p.m. S..-f !
