CGA Forms Men’s Support, Group
CGA has announced that a gay men’s
support group will begin meeting on June
3. The group of ten people will meet week
ly for facilitated discussion.
A facilitator for the group
characterized it as for “men who feel pretty
comfortable being out and want to talk
with other gay men about gay lifestyles and
related issues.”
CGA sponsored several “consciousness
raising” groups in past years, but no groups
have met within the past year. When the
idea of again establishing support groups
was discussed at several business meetings
during the past spring semester, many peo
ple expressed immediate interest. Groups
were suggested for lesbians, for people
“corning out,” and for supporting leaders
against burn-out.
The group facilitator said the men’s
support group was the first to be establish
ed since most of the interested people were
going to be in tovm for summer school. He
said othci groups would likely form early in
the fall semester.
People interested in facilitating or
participating in future groups may call
Mark at 929-1982.
