Carlyle Frank lin, President of the N. C. State YMCA and President of the South ern Area Student Council of the YMCA, showed his numerous slides and gave information on this Com munist nation. Carlyle recently toured the Soviet Union with a group of American students. The largest crowd of the year attended this “Y” campus meeting in the A-C Building. On December 15 the “Y” par ticipated in a Christmas caroling spree with the other religious or ganization on campus. Hot choco late and cookies were a welcome reward at the end. A faculty fireside was held on January 2, at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Allen de Hart. The group heard a record of a church service given in jazz and a discussion fol lowed with each member stating his views on the subject of liturgical jazz. Refreshments were served and were followed by a tour, at the group’s request, of the lovely home. On January 16, Mr. Robert Ver- steeg spoke at the “Y” sponsored campus - wide meeting on “Love, Courtship and Marriage.” Because of the interesting topic, there was a large crowd on hand.
