Page 6 COLUMNS Friday, November 20,1970 Presenting The 1970 Homecoming Court This year there are sixteen candidates for Homecoming Queen. Many of the local men’s houses are represented for the first time. The candidates for 1970-71 are as follows: Glee Club has chosen Debbie Gla^ow as their nominee. Debbie, a freshman from Elm City, plans to teach elementary school upon graduation. She is interested in music and is a liberal arts major. Ginger Smith, from Rocky Mount, is re^yresenting the Athletics Department. Ginger is a sophomore and is taking general college courses. The Dramatics Club is sponsoring Meredith Madison. Meredith is a freshman from West Point, Va., and is interested in drama. She hopes to attend East Carolina University to earn a teaching degrje. Barbara Hi^hes, Merritt Dorm’s rej^resentative, is a primary education major and a sophomore. She is interested in elementary and primary school teaching. Barbara is from Henderson. Phi Beta Lambda is sponsor ing Kay Whittenton, a freshman from Dunn, N. C. Kay is a 2-year buaness major who wants to be a secretary. Leiza Hall is sponsored by COLUMNS. Leiza, a liberal arts major and a sophomore, is interested in the jounalism field. She is from Roanoke Rapids. Young Republicans is re presented by Jane House, a freshman from Louisburg. Jane is a liberal arts major who is interested in Dramatics. The OAK staff has nominated Cyndie Schubart, a sophomore from Louisbui^, Cyndie is interested in publications and music and is a two-year business major. Ann Harden, a sophomore from Plymouth, N. C. is Kenan Dorm’s representative. Ann is a liberal arts major who is hoping to attend CaroUna to study Sociology. She wants to work with juvenile delinquents. Angela Bumgarner, re presenting the commuting stude.its is a freshman from Louisburg. Angela is studying liberal arts and hopes to teach business. Third Kenan is sponsoring Debbie Mills, a freshman from Richmond, Va. Debbie is a two-year business studeat. Her favorite hobby is cheerleading. Mary Ann Markej, a sopho more from New Bern, N. C. is the Ragland House and Elm Street House representative. She is a two-year business major. Her favorite sport is water skiing. Wright Dorm is represented by Jackie Dail, a sophomore from Ayden, N. C. Jackie is a two-year business student. She hojjes to be a secretary after graduation from Louisbui^. Jennie Hunter, a sophomore from Warrenton, is rejMresent- ing Phi Theta Kappa. Jennie is a liberal arts student. Kathy Walston has been choseii to represent Methodist Student Movement. Kathy is a freshman from Clinton, N. C. The Student Government Association is sponsoring Peggy Strickland, who is president of Women’s Council. Peggy is a sophomore from Wilmington, N. C. She is in the liberal arts course of study. Freshman (continued from page 1) are, it should be better pre pared. Another major com plaint was the day of registra tion for classes. Again with the money involved, the students felt they should be able to get the classes they wanted. They felt it was not very well or ganized. As for the social life at Louisburg, many were content with what was offered during the week nights, but felt more should be offfered during the weekends. Some were happy staying here on campus, while others prefer to leave for enter tainment. On the whole, many fresh men are happy with Louisburg and enjoy what is offered and the friendly atmosphere of everyone being “one big happy family”, instead of in nu merous little groups, as they had known before in their high schools.
