Mr. Fingers places Donna Spence In a spell.
Iceberg Warms Hearts
The Louisurg College Concert
Series opened Monday night,
November 2, at 8:00 p.m. with the
amazing show from Tomorrow-
land at Disney World, the Michael
Iceberg Musical Pyramid. The
pyramid had inside of it, six
keyboards, and various synthe
sizers, to make some very
interesting music. The packed
audience listened spellbound as
he made his keyboards sound
exactly like violins, flutes and
guitars. He could actually play
symphony music on them. His
selections Included “Lala",
"Stairway To Heaven" and "The
Three Little Pigs Concerto". The
music was accompanied by a light
show, which responded to the
keys on his instruments, and by
colored smoke, which responded
to the moods of his pieces. The
sold-out concert audience at
Louisburg College was fortunate
to have the opportunity to see
Michael Iceberg and his amazing
Pyramid when they did. He only
tours a couple of months out of
every year.
Mr. Fingers Astounds
Louisburg College Audience
"The Amazing Mr. Fingers,"
otherwise known as Irv Weiner,
came to Louisburg College Friday
night, November 20, to show the
students his special brand of
ledgermain, prestidigitation and
extra-sensory perception. The
Multi-purpose room at the college
was packed with open-mouthed
students, faculty and admini
strators.
Mr. Fingers did card tricks, rope
tricks and tricks with steel hoops.
He showed the audience that he
could control his body with a trick
he learned in the Malay Islands
while he was in the Navy in World
War II. With a member of the
audience there to attest to it, he
made his pulse beat to several
tunes. He could make all of his
blood flow out of one hand and
into another, making one hand
beet red and the other white and
cold.
He took time out of his act to
talk to the crowd, mostly of
college students, about the!
dangers that lie in the world to!
young people, such as Jim Jones
and his cult and the Reverend
Moon. He said, "Question every
thing that you hear, and believe
about a third of it, because there
are a lot of liars in the world."
His most amazing feat was that
of extra-sensory perception. He
would call out a person's name or
initials and their horoscope sign,
then he would proceed to tell
them something about them
selves. He said he could read the
auras around them. Also, Mr.
Fingers read off the serial number
on a five dollar bill in one member
of the audience's wallet.
After the show, the appre
ciative audience crowded around
the stage in hopes of seeing more,
and they were not disappointed.
Places To Eat In Louisburg
Mirror reflects Iceberg’s captivating artistry.
By Beth Bethune-Food Critic
Louisburg may not have too
much to do, but there are several
good restaurants. One of the most
popular is Dick's Drive-In. It is not
really a drive-in, but they serve
good food and beverages. One
can spend anywhere from $1.70
(hamburgers and french fries) to
$8.00 or $9.00 for a steak. Dick's
closes at 11:00 p.m.
The Murphy House is another
good choice. Especially if barbe
cue, chicken or seafood is what
you crave. Prices are a little
steeper here, so plan on bringing
at least $4.00 or $5.00 with you for
the meal.
If you want a steak or sandwich
and sometimes pizza, the Villa is
the place to go. The Villa serves a
very good steak sandwich. All
beverages are served also. Prices
vary, but four dollars or so should
be enough. Now, if you really
want pizza, the Pizza Hut is the
place for you to go. The pizzas are
overpriced (a small Pepperoni
pizza is $3.20 with no extra cheese
and thin and crispy) but the
luncheon special is very reason
able. For $2.19 you can eat a small
pizza with five toppings, a salad
and iced tea.
Finally, a place with good food
and reasonable prices is "Ye Olde
Time Ice Cream Shoppe". They
serve ice cream (of course), soup
(homemade) and sandwiches.
They have specials pretty often
also. You can "eat good" for
$2.00.
Of course there is always
Tastee Freeze, McDonald's and
Hardee's, but one knows they can
get boring sometimes.
