Greatwe Gorner
The following poems were
submitted by Ray Mize’s
creative writing class. They
were selected by him to be
among the best written so far
this fall.
Untitled - Elizabeth
It’s dark inside,
Surrounded by life.
Seeing so little
Wanting so much
Break this wall
We will soon touch!
Untitled - Cathy Carter
Waves ebb and flow,
Tides rise and fall.
Between breakers peace settles
slow.
From this shore I lose the sea
In waves, the sun lost
In the sparkle of the crest.
As my time is lost
In an hour’s crest of joy, of fear.

Haiku - Tyson Bridger
Whirling air creeps through
the cracks
Old man watches last fire burn
cold.
While the house turns dark.
Eclipse of Life - Leslie Fulghum
Smoldering sun beats on my
back-
icy cold. Darkness shadows
Light burning in my eyes
Listening. Listening.
Listening.
Not hearing
Numb to the soul
A living soul
Buried senses
Who’s life is taken?
Student Alumni
Association Invites
Members
by Michelle Moody
The Student Alumni
Association, a service organiza
tion of “students helping
students - past, present and
future,” is inviting students to
become members to help foster
a sense of pride and tradition at
Louisburg College.
Members of the organization
become active in such activities
as telefunds. Homecoming,
class reunions, banquets,
student socials and class unity
projects.
On Tuesday, October 13, the
Student Alumni Association
had its first cookout behind the
Benson Chapel. Afterwards,
they held a meeting to set up
some fall activities. Among
them, a Homecoming Recep
tion following the game on
November 21.
Anyone interested in
becoming a member of this
important and socially
rewarding organization should
attend the next meeting,
Monday, November 2, at 5:00
p.m. in the Blue Room of the
Cafeteria.
Officers for this year include:
president-Steve Scott; vice
president-Viki Reese; Treasur-
er-Julie Ellison; and secretary-
Tracy Roberson.
continued from pg. \
Gwen Struzik, a sophomore,
and contestant, enjoyed the
game because it allowed a lot of
people to get together and have
some “good clean fun.”
Wright dormitory continues
to have an activity every
Wednesday during the month
of October, while Franklin
prepares for its main event, a
haunted house on October 28.
