STUDENTS PETITION
FOR STDS AWARENESS
BYCRIWALSKI
Concerned about the rate of
sexually transmitted diseases on
campus, some Louisburg College
students have taken it upon them
selves to do what they can to spread
awareness of safe sexual practices
and to ask the school to do something
about the issue as well.
Deacon Bankes and Jennifer
Bush started a petition asking that
condoms be distributed on campus.
The petition was signed by four
hundred students. According to
Deacon, most of the faculty they
questioned said that they were in favor
of condom distribution.
The petition was presented to
the Student Affairs Committee and the
matter was put before the whole faculty
for a vote on February 6. It was
decided to investigate what programs
could be instituted on campus to further
educate students on the dangers of
STDs.
