MOORE ELECTED S.G.A. PRESIDENT
COSNER STEPS DOWN
Search for replacement steps up
by Matt Yehiel
As most of you know, or may not know, the Residence Director of Wright Hall,
William Cosner, has left us. He has recently gotten married and felt that he should
spend more time with his wife, who has Just graduated law school.
Cosner said his best Louisburg College experience was coming in last year and
now seeing the gradual improvement in the students.
For those of you wondering about the switch from Hillman to Wright, Cosner
said, "Kevin (Bryant) and I just decided to switch. It was just a little change, some
thing different."
Cosner said that he had to be so "by the book" last year because everything was so
out of control. This year it had been a little easier because he had been able to ulk
things out with students. It had been more satisfying this year.
To his past residents in Hillman Cosner said, "The fire thing was not cool."
"I've enjoyed being here," Cosner said. "I've learned a lot of patience and how to
interact with others. I've grown just as much as you all have."
Assistant Dean for Residence life Richard Chassey is handling the details of re
placing Cosner.
"I've done what we typically do, which is to advertise by sending notices to other
colleges and universities that there is an opening here, and also advertising in the
newspapers," Dean Chassey said.
"We've gotten five applications so far, and interviewed one person. Well be inter
viewing somebody else this weekend," he said. [When you read this paper the sec
ond interview will be complete. - ed. ]
Dean Chassey will also be responsible for training the new Residence Director.
"There's a manual that they have, and I spend probably a week going over the
manual with them." Dean Chassey said. "Well also talk about communication skills
and crisis intervention. I don’t expect too much of a problem."
Meanwhile, William has left and this campus won't be the same without him.
Second-year resident Keith Moore was
elected Student Government Association
(S.G.A.) President last week on a second
ballot. Serving with Moore in the Execu
tive Committee will be Chris Loga, \^ce-
President and Ginger Bray, Secretary, both
of whom were elected on the first ballot.
Jonas Shields, TVeasurer, was elected with
Moore on the second ballot.
Voter turnout was high for both ballots
of the election. Over 140 students voted
in both votes, which were held Thursday
the 14th and Tuesday the 19th. Students
need to win a clear majority (51%) on a
ballot to be seated in the Senate.
Along with the Executive Committee,
students were elected to Class Offices and
Senate seats. Serving the Sophomore Class
will be Brian Dorsey, President; Talitha
"Leaf* House, Vice-President; Kim Krause,
Secretary; and Tony Dancy, Treasurer.
Elected Freshman Class Officers were
Adam Swinson, President; Dega Baily,
Vice-President; Shaunda Williams, Secre
tary; and Evan Stauffer, IVeasurer.
Also serving on the S.G.A. Senate will
be David Lollar, Commuter Senator, Angie
Frederick, Merritt Senator; and Scott
Washburn, Wright Senator.
