Weekend Getaways THE HILLMAN FIRES OF '95 by Jason Rackley If you live in Hillman Hall you know about the notorious fires in the trash cans on September 18. I don't know what ev eryone in Hillman thinks about it all but I'm sick of the damn fires. Being awak ened in the middle of the night, being dis turbed while trying to study or being dis turbed while trying to do other things isn't very pleasant. There was a previous fire about the same time the previous week in Hillman. The following night we had a meeting out side of Hillman to try to get it all stopped. Residence Director Kevin Bryant was go ing to enforce a one week Open House sus pension on all of Hillman. Everyone talked him out of it by promising him the imma ture acts wouldn't happen again. It did happen again. Now Hillman has no Open House until October 3. There was another meeting pertaining to these fires on Thurs day, September 21 in the Chapel. This meeting was a mandatory meeting called by Dean Krause. If the meeting with Dean Krause didn't do any good for the immature little kid who continues to set Hres, I hope he fmally gets tired of doing it. Not only is this "funny little prank" extremely dangerous to the lives of everyone who lives in Hillman, it is annoying, too. Just because the person who does this is a loser and can't get a girl in his room doesn't mean that he has to ruin that privilege for the real men in Hillman. If the guilty person is out there reading this article, respect your dorm and its inhabit ants, please. You are in coUege now, act like it. by Christian Dixon Around 40 minutes down the road after leaving the campus parking lot lies beauti ful Lake Gaston, where many Louisburg students go for a little R & R on the week ends. Wide open water and serene coves offer plenty of recreational options to wa ter enthusiasts of all ages. The most popular vessels appear to be Jet-Skis and Ski-Boats; except the senior citizen crowd who appear to prefer the trusty pontoon boast. Skurfing, (or wake boarding), knee boarding, skiing and tub ing are the preferred watersports. No mat ter your choice, fun is what it's all about. And what can top off a good time on the water more than a big steak hot off the grill. Yummy! And then, if you're really in the mood for a good time, you can see the man next door with his dog Big Blue - but I guess not everyone has a man next door with a dog.
