The Beautiful Gift of Life by Wendy E. Michel Most people overlook the most wonderful gift they can give - blood. To some people in need this gift could mean many more birthdays. What could possibly be better? The American Red Cross has asked if Louisburg would take a few minutes to give this beautiful gift on Thursday, February 22. The Bloodmo- bile will be on campus from 12:00 - 4:30 in the afternoon. The Red Cross is in dire need of blood at this point and begs those who can give to do so. CLC will be sponsoring the event. The word "emergency" is not used much at Red Cross but there is no other word for the desperate need they have. This need also includes all of us. Tlie blood being given might help someone you know or love. Who knows when our friends or relatives or ourselves might need it? The amount of units in total that the Red Cross has access to is 2207, while the amount actually needed is 4257 units. Nearly twice as much! As you can see, blood is des perately needed. If you have never given before then you need to know that the whole process takes about one hour of which only 6-12 minutes is actually giving blood. For those of you who have given, you know just how easy it is and what a wonderful feeling you get from giving life. There is absolutely no risk of getting a disease, and what can you lose? Please think it over and if you blood, continued, page 6 LOUISBURG COLLEGE PREPARES FOR REACCREDIIMION VISIT A team of educators will visit Louisburg College March 25-28 to ap prove the College’s reaccreditation ef forts. Louisburg is a two-year school accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Associa tion of Colleges and Schools to award associated degrees. The college comes up for reaccreditation every ten years, a process that includes a site visit by a panel of professional educators from peer institutions.
