BI^CK INK Celebrating ten years of service March 23,1978 We decided to have a party to commemorate the first decade of the most important and unified orgartization on campus. And we decided to invite a few guests—like former Black Panther and now Winston-Salem Alderman Larry Little. Like Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, noted Black Journalist Askia Muhammad, and the Black Staff and Faculty Caucus. Like members of the Chapel Hill-Carrtx>ro community and. to add a touch of funky Icing to the anniversary cake. Kool and the Gang. We invited members of the "family.” Black folks never forget family ' when it’s time to celebrate. The Ebony Readers, the Opeyo Dancers, Onyx Theater, and Gospel Choir were all there. And so were fraternities and sororities and our United Christian Fellowship. And, of course, we invited, as our guest of honor, our most important; family member of all—you. Wasn’t it nice to march together, pray together, eat together, jam together, and witness one another’s talents together? Wasn’t it nice for us all to be pulling for one another rather than against one another? Maybe we ought to celebrate more often. 7 i The first decade 4 ... a BSM festival Staff photos by James.
