God^s Way Is Best
St. John 15:1-8
I am the true vine, and my
Father is the husbandman.
2. Every branch in me that
beareth not fruit he taketh away:
and every branch that beareth
fruit, he purgeth it, that it may
bring forth more fruit.
3. Now ye are clean through the
word which I have spoken unto you.
4. Abide in me, and I in you. As
the branch canot bear fruit of it
self, except it abide in the vine; no
more can ye, except ye abide in
me.
5. I am the vine, ye are the
branches: He that abideth in me,
and I in him, the same bringeth
forth much fruit: for without me ye
can do nothing.
6. If a man abide not in me, he
is cast forth as a branch, and is
withered; and men gather them,
and cast them into the fire, and
they are burned.
7. If ye abide in me, and my
words abide in you, ye shall ask
what ye will, and it shall be done
unto you.
8. Herein is my Father
glorified, that ye bear much fruit;
so shall ye be my disciples.
If things were lovely all the time
And all out days were good,
We never could appreciate
God’s blessing as we should
Then let’s rejoice that there are
times
When shadows cloud our day.
And thank the Lord that He
witholds
Some things for which we pray.
For had He given all we sought
If could have brought us woe;
And thus, we would have lost the
joy
That Gk)d would have us know.
We need to know the blessedness
Of victory over wrong
For after overcoming trials,
We sing a sweeter song!

Baptist Church, Chapel Hill.

The Sunshine Will Show
With each day’s new dawning
If you just stop and pray
“God please walk with me as
I go through the day”

Although we didn’t get their last names,
Pasco and Cloleen (a white couple) took
first place convincingly. Pasco would
niake a good John Travolta. Second place
went to Bobby Best and Brenda Chavis.
Third place went to National Achievement
student Gail Paschall, a senior in high
school from Macclesfield, N.C. and her
partner (whose name we could not get).
However, the funkiest act of the night
came from Black Ink Sports Eklitor James
Alexander (Freak Master) and Co. TTie
crowd gathered near the stage as
Funadelic went wiW to the tune of “One
NatiMi Under a Groove”. Someone from
the crowd passed a joint (or not a joint,
that is the question) to one of the mock
band members and the funk rolled, and
rolled and rolled . ..
To say that Zilla (Alexander), Tick Moss
(Johnny Southerland), Baby Sinister
(David Joyner), Tyron Avent, James
Speight, Daryl Henderson, James Home,
and Andre Holston got oS would be a gross
understatement.
Indeed, they were so good, they had to
fulfill a request to do an encore while
“Funk, Gettin Ready to Roll” was played.
TTie show, which grossed over $400, drew
more students than any BSM-sponsored
event in recent years. It will enable the
BSM to make its (625 loan payment on
Nov. 25.
The entire evening was adequately
epitomized by Pennington. “I was really
pleased”, he said^ “We did it 60 inex-
,peosively;ant the people worked so hard.
