Brown comes back hard-core with her jun ior effort Broken Silence from Def Jam Records. This album is full of rhetorical lyrics, feistiness, hot beats and hooks that will make you think. Brown even intro duces Trinidad yard talk, with a perfected accent. Keeping things "hood femininely" is what Foxy does best, representing Brooklyn to the fullest, along with Prada, Gucci and Fendi shot-outs. She manages to address every aspect of a rap diva with this presentation. In 'Failin' she implies her independence with the hook, "don t hate me 'cause I'm ballin', nor save me if I m failin'." She also clowns her competitors with no mercy with lyrics like; "there's only one other broad that got skills, and shes alright but she's not real," and Barbie dresser, you're just my successor. Her classic delivery makes it impossible to dis like this album. Now do not get it twisted, this will not be another woman explosive deja vu of her past efforts. Although there are some traces of the raunchy image that put her on the scene, the feisty lyrics are just right for the mix. With appearances from CNN, Mystikal, Kelis, Ron Isley and a host of other rising talent, this proves to be a high contender for female rap album of the year. So don't sleep on Broken Silence, because it has the perfect blend of hooks, beats that knock, hot lyrics and a dash of Trini-yard slang. Don't Play This Game By John Cleveland "Two Can Play That Game' The movie, "Two Can Play at That Game" focuses on schooling chicken heads' around the world about how to avenge their womanhood, keep their inde pendence and maintain a stable relation ship with a man. The movie is about the struggles women go through when their man is cheating on them. Throughout the movie, Shante (Vivica Fox) stresses her opinions on how to keep a man in check by explain ing to the audience the rules and regula tions that women should go through when they are experiencing problems in their relationships. Although Shante portrays the all-knowing sense of relationships, s e ends up having her own problems. The movie presents a very childish view on relationships. Throughout the movie the male figure is constantly abused and teased by female tendencies. It is ulti mately a battle between the sexes about who controls the relationship. Shante's effort to prove that women control today's relationships falls short when she fails to get back together with her passionate lover, Keith (Morris Chestnut). This movie hates so much on the male ego and for that receives two thumbs up on the player- hater poll. I strongly suggest that all men seeking to take their lady friends out on a date to the movies to see "Jeepers Creepers" instead, because "Two Can Play That Game" will have your girl knowing how to work the game.
