Three Gaston College Pageant Continued From Front Page Kristianne Victoria Olds Donna Lynn Pickelsimer Rebecca Nina Taylor Jacqueline Owensby distinct impression that the show was being held on the streets of New York. Afterwards, the Carnation Ball to honor the queen and her courts was held in the Myers Center cafeteria, after the pageant. The remaining contestants were; Donna Lynn Pickelsimer, is the eighteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Pickelsimer. Donna is 5’4” tall, has brown hair and green eyes. She graduated from North Gaston were she was Miss North Gaston in 1981, Miss Winter Princess and was a contestant in the Miss Gastonia Pageant. Donna is enrolled in the Criminal Justice Program here at Gaston and plans someday to be a Sheriff. Her hobbies include swimming, skiing, dancing and cross-stitching. Rebecca Taylor is the eighteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby G. Black. She is 5’3” tall with green eyes and dark brown hair. Rebecca is a 1981 graduate of Ashbrook High School and participated in the Miss. N.C. National and the Miss Gastonia Pageant. She is enrolled in the Medical Office Assistant program at Gaston. Her hobbies include snow skiing, rafting, camping and singing. Jacqueline Owensby is the twenty year old daught of Mr. and Mrs. James Owensby. Jackie is a 1980 graduate of North Gaston High School. She is 5’3” tall with brown hair and brown eyes. Her hobbies include horseback riding, cross- stitching and dancing. Jackie is enrolled in the Liberal Arts Program here at Gaston and plans to study Mortuary Science Kristianne Olds is the twenty year old daughter of Mr. David G. Olds Jr. Kristi is 5’5” tall with hazel eyes and sandy blond hair. Kristi is a Liberal Arts major and plans to work towards an Associates Degree in Nursing in the near future. She enjoys cross-stitching, playing the flute, dancing, spending money and traveling. Mary Jo Thomas is the nineteen year old Mary Jo Thomas Renee Eugenia Baity daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Thomas. Jodi has brown eyes and brown hair and is 5’2” tall. She is a 1980 graduate of Ashbrook High School and was a majorette in her junior and senior years. Her hobbies include dancing, computer science classes, amusement parks, meeting new people and the group “Journey". She dislikes pessimists and liver. Her future plans include working with a Houston Texas Computer Firm. Renee E. Baity is the nineteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Baity. She is 5’4” tall with blond hair and blue eyes. Renee is a 1981 graduate of North Gaston High School where she was a Junior Marshall and Beta Club member. Renee participated in the 1980 and 1981 Miss North Gaston Pageants. She likes cats, math, and computers and enjoys singing, dancing, skiing and cross stitching. Renee plans to transfer to UNCC where she hopes to get a Anne Marie Long Kimberly Ann Baker B.S. degree in Computer Science and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Anne Marie Long is the eighteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Long. She is 5’2” tall with brown hair and green eyes. Anne is a 1981 graduate of North Gaston High School and her hobbies include acting, talking learning and reading. Anne is a Liberal Arts major here at Gaston and she plans to study drama at another college after she graduates. Kimberly Ann Baker is the nineteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James T. Baker. Kim has brown hair, blue/green eyes and is 5’l”taU. She is a 1980 graduate of North Gaston High School was she participoated in the Miss North Gaston and Sweetheart beauty pageants. Kim is a Liberal Arts and Psychology major and enjoys playing the piano, ice skating and being outdoors. Kim ultimately wants to be a clinical psychologist. Image Consultant Lectures To GC Students Toni S. Fredell Special to the Gaslight On January 30, 1982, Myers Center Auditorium was buzzing with young women and men eager to learn more about dressing for success. Mrs. Paula Lohrmann, an image consultant from Matthews, N.C. , was the featured speaker for the two hour informative seminar sponsored by the Gamma Beta Phi Society. Mrs. Lohrmann began her plan of dressing for success with taking a few extra minutes in the morning to get up, look fresh, and feel better about yourself. She advised us to emphasize our good points antf^^^gt be;. objective about our appearance. Finally, to set a goal for ourself and carry it through. Mrs. Lohrmann illustrated her points with the use of four models; Guyanne Beam, Scott McSwain, Phyllis Barbow, and Gary Leonhardt. These jnodels, all members of Gamma Beta Phi, were instructed before the lecture as to what to wear. The key to dressing for an interview is — be conservative. Those present were cautioned not to wear skirts with slits, to stay away from shiny fabrics, and to keep make up, jewelry, and nail polish on the conservative side. Men’s suits should be navy, medium gray, or charc(^a}j^||MtWhite/lixl Cowboy boots are definitely out for a job interview! Ladies should wear close-toed pumps. Open toed scandels are not considered professional attire. After viewing the most effective and least effective interviewing outfits, Mrs. Lohrmann entertained questions from the audience. Many students in attendance found the advice especially helpful since they will soon begin job interviews. Everyone left feeling more prepared to use their wardrobe to say “we are professionals and
