One of our two living founders writes: Dear Mrs. Trentham: I deeply appreciate the opportunity that you have given me of expressing my interest in Gardner-Webb College to the alumni. Being one of the founders of the College, I can look back through the years and see the progress that has been made by our institution and feel a great deal of pride in the fact that I was permitted to have a part in the founding of a noble Christian College. To the Alumni, I would like to say that it is my firm belief that a college can only be ais strong as its Alumni. It is up to the Alumni to work to tne end that this might be the great cultural center of this section of the country, and that our school will continue to be endowed with the spiritual blessings of the Man of Galilee. We have come a long way and I could tell you something of the trials and the sacrifices that we have had to make through the years. But that is not the important thing now—the important thing is that we work, pray and hope together that we may have an even greater college that will continue to lead boys and girls onward and upward to a better and brighter day in our progressive civilization. Thanking you again and assuring you of my continued interest in the college and its work, I am Sincerely yours, J. F. Moore Mrs. Grady Lovelace of Shelby Writes: Mr. J. H. Quinn, Lawyer, Educator and Baptist Layman played a prominent part in the founding of Boiling Springs High School, and served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1906 until 1929, when Trustees were elected to serve a definite term. Mr. Quinn was made Chairman Ex Officio in which capacity he served until his health failed in 1936. Mr. Quinn gave liberally of his means, always attended the Associational meetings to represent the School; he made hundreds of speeches and devoted many days of conscientious effort and unfailing Prayer, that the School would be able to withstand financial difficulties, and would continue to be a blessing to the youth of this section. For many years it was his custom to entertain all the faculty members in his home and give them assurance of his faith in them; he was always ready to share their difficulties and sympathize with them. He was frequently called upon for advice which was given freely, but carefully. One of the Dormitory rooms is furnished in his memory by his son Mr. A. B. Quinn of Greensboro. for 28 years. MR. J. H. QUINN Supporter and trustee MR. J. F. MOORE n active member of the Board of Trustees for 27 years and now a life member.
