Gaylord Lehman
The B.S.U. of Gardner-Webb hi
a new president, Gaylord Lehman
of Inman, South Carolina. Gaylord
has proven himself to be one of
I he ablest and most outstanding
members of our freshman class. He
is a member of the Choir and the
science club and has made the honor
roll regularly. It is evident that we
(an look forward to a revitalized
B.S.U. next year under his proven
leadership.
Honors are not new to Lehman,
he earned many in high school. Gay
lord was president of his senior
class, Editor-in-chief of his high
school annual, and a member of his
school paper staff. He was also a
member of the glee club, Beta Club,
and journalism club. His scholastic
average was exceptional also for
during his four years in high school
he maintained an “A” (95) aver
age.
Gaylord even found time to take
part in athletics. For two years he
played football as a hard-hitting
half-back. He lead his team in

and character was recognized when
he was selected to represent his
school at “Tar Heel Boy’s State.”
At graduation Gaylord was show

ifjted the most likely to succeed.
Then too, he received the medal

the high school journalism medal

Jack Holt
Jack Holt will be president of the
Student Government of Gardner-
Webb College next year. His elec
tion to this high post of honor and
responsibility reflects the confiaence
of our student body in his charac
ter, ability, and leadership. Jack is
X man of high-idealism and fast ac
tion. He is equally at ease and just
as effective behind a speaker’s ros
trum as he is on the gridiron. Jack’s
success as a smooth-working, fast-
thinking quarterback has earned
him his classmate’s admiration, and
his tincerity and humility as a mini-

Jack took a very active part in all
the major sports: baseball, basket
ball, football, and tennis. Jack was
■hosen “player of the week” by a
Winston-Salem newspaper, and his
press-clippings alone would fill a
scrap-book. He pitched baseball for
four years, played as forward in
basketball for four years, and quar
ter-backed his gridiron squad for
three years.
How Jack finds time to study here
at G.W. is a mystery but the fact
-emains that he has a good scholas
tic average in spite of his many
extra-curricular activities. It has
been rumored that he has an in
spiration at Meredith and there is
picture on his desk to prove it.
Jack is a sincere ministerial student
is planning to attend Wake Por-

a big job before him next year,
