PERSONAHTIES CAMPUS Bunny Price “Hi Gang! Let's go, Gang!!” Sound familiar? It sure does and you guessed right—it’s that Sunshine guy who spins the Big Wheel on campus this month. Henry Winfield Price, Jr , bettlr known as Bunny is that bursting bundle of Vitamin D that hails from Miami, Florida, where he was a very import ant spoke in the big wheel at Miami Jackson High School. There Bunny chalked up a record to be envied. He played basketball and football and was a letterman on the track team for two years. But Bunny’s talent is not limited to athletics— he also had a mind for business because he was treasurer of his senior class. After Bunny graduated from high school, he entered the University of Florida equipped with his striking appearance and dynamic personality which won him a bid to one of the national social fraternities on that campus — the Delta Tau Delta fraternity to which he was pledged. Bunny’s venture northward began after a year at the University of Florida. He has a record here that anyone would be proud to claim. In both football and basketball, Bunny is a letterman. Being without that Florida Sunshine doesn’t seem to have held him back any at all. Bunny has won the admira tion and respect of his friends and associates at Gardner- Webb for he has been elected vice-president of the Monogram Club which is one of the most active clubs on our campus. He also exercises his leadership ability by serving on the House Council. This good Methodist seems to get around well enough at our Baptist Institution . . . and just forget all that stuff you’ve heard about squabbling between Methodists and Baptists ’cause Bunny and Mot have convinced us there is nothing to it. Hideyho, let’s go!! Come basketball season, we have a feel ing you’ll be hearing plenty of this line of pep talk from the basketball court this year from Bunny. But he gives with more than the boosting of the moral of his team-mates - he gives ((Continued on Page 13) BIG WHEELS Sally Thompson There was a girl named dear Louella — I mean Sally, who made her debut in Miami, Florida. Later, the Thompson Company went on the road northbound to Lancaster, South Carolina, where our Campus _ Big Wheel, Sally Thompson starred in repeat performances' as a cheerleader, president of her sophomore class, and vice-president of her junior and senior classes. Topping her honors was being chosen for the good citizenship award by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Bubbling over with enthusiasm, personality, and talent, Sally made her entrance to Gardner-Webb College. Between curtain calls her freshman year, she capably filled the office of secretary and treasurer of the class. Her attractiveness and popularity won her a place in the May Court. The real merit of Sally’s performances in scholastic and leadership roles is a coveted position in the Phi Beta Kappa organization as an ac- After a short three month vacation, Sally is back for a repeat performance. Her original musical compositions “I Am So Blue” which made a big hit last year is still tops with the students. Her renditions of “Louella” and “Frankie and John ny” are running a close second. Those melodies you hear floating from the keyboard over the campus are results of Sal ly’s ingenuity and talent. It was Sally’s untiring efforts and unsurpassed originality that helped to make the talent show a howling success last year. She worked out a halarious pantomine of “Frankie and Johnny” and supplying the background music and story her self. That colored “Mammy” dialect that belongs to only Sally is not only entertaining for the girls but it is also rewarding for Sally at night when she makes her door-to-door campaign (right Bevarly?) Topping Sally’s list of favorites are swabbies (especially one), Mr. Vosecky, good food and plenty of it, and week-end ((Continued on Page 13) Page 5
