NEW ADDITION TO
COACH HARRIS FAMILY
Nicolas Miashovsky
Do You Know Him?
This month the Pilot honors
Nicolas Miashovsky of the music
world. Miashovsky a noted Russian
composer, one of the most prolific
symphonists of the contemporary
music scene, was born near Warsaw,

Romsky-Korsakoff and Liadoff. His
first symphony, written in 1908, won
him a scholarship at the Petrograd
Conservatory and set him on the
way to become a symphonist. Al
though a contemporary of Stravin
sky and Prokofieff, he is in his
works entirely free from any influ

early symphonies were very comber,
the first four being written in minor
keys as are also the two piano
sonatas composed at about the same
Later his creations took on a
brighter hue and in some of them
he used Slavic dance themes and
even folk melodies, some of which
he had heard while doing military

than any other contemporary com

piano works, including four sonatas;

On Wednesday, December 21, 1955, at 10:30 a. m. Coach
Norman Harris became the “proud papa” of a “bouncing
baby girl” weighing in at 8 lbs. 8 ozs.
The new arrival to the Harris family has been named
Debra Jane and nicknamed Debbie.
Coach Harris mentioned the possibility of a girl’s basket
ball team for Gardner-Webb. He has gotten off to a good
start already with two adorable girls.
Ann, the two year old, has high ambitions of becoming
a cheerleader to help her dad’s teams go on to more vic
tories.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Harris and
here’s hoping you don’t have to make too many changes.
