Page Four THE; P I 1. 0 T February, 1959 TRACKING THE INTRAMURALS By Larry Mosteller Intramural volleyball brought the intramurals to a cli max before the Christmas holidays began with First Hapy beating First East of Decker Hall for the championship. First Hapy went into the final round of play against First East without a loss on its record while the East had lost the first game they had played; yet they fought back with courage to go against Hapy in the finals. First East in order to win the championship must win 4 out of 6 games while First Hapy without a loss on its hands could win only 2 games out of either set (3 games in a set). The first set was won by the East beating their opponent to hand them their first loss in competition play. First East beat them 2 games out of 2 games played. The scores was 16 The championship game was set Tor a later date, but with the agree ment of Coach Norman Harris and the captain of each team It was de cided upon to follow the other set. As the set closed it was First Hapy coming out as the voUeyball champs. First Hapy took 2 out of 2 games by the score of 15 to 11 and 15 to 7. Both teams showed good school spirit and sportsmanship. Pacing the winners were Ken Beane, John Jennings, Neil Setzer, and Marshall Crews. Putting up a never endless battle to take second place honors for the East after losing their first game were Larry Mosteller, Gene Hollifield, Dickie Turner, Travis, Clarence Elmore, James Snook, and Joe Alverson. This brought our intramural pro gram to an end before Christmas Holidays. At this time there had been two intramural champions. These were the Day Students taking away the football award and First Hapy winning the volleyball’s top position. Returning to school after the holi days with exams acing the students, yet the intramural program went on as Coach Harris called a meeting to organize the basketball teams. There were 8 teams organized which are 1st East, 2nd East, 1 West, 2nd West, 1st Hapy, 2nd Hapy, and the Day Students.
