GW ALUMNUS RECRUITS FOR WC Tyree Kiser, Gardner-Webb Col lege graduate and representative for Western Carolina College, was on the campus Friday, Nov. 18 to talk with students interested in transfer- ing to Western Carolina College. Approximately 25 students indi cated an interest in the four - year school and were in Kiser. Seven Board Members Named Seven new members were elected the Board of Trustees of Gardner- Webb College by the Baptist State Convention the week of Nov. 19. Named to the 28-member board for a four-year term were the Rev. R. O. Baker, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Cramerton; the Rev. Wilson Padgett, pastor of the Eastside Baptist Church, Shelby; I. A. McLain, an automobile dealer of Marion; J. Toliver Davis, attorney at law. Forest City; Miss Charlene Stamey, of the Stamey department store chain, Fallston; the Rev. R. P. Hamby, pastor of Connelly Springs Baptist Church, Cormelly Springs; and J. C. Hames, banker from Cliff- side. The nominations for these posts were made by a special nominating committee. Earl Thomas works with the College radio station and also in the cafeteria for a total of ap proximately 23 hours each week. His pay is used to finance the fly ing lessons that he is taidng. Earl, who is a pre-forestry major, thinks the main advantage in working is the experience it gives him. He combines business with pleasure, for radio is one of his hobbies. Jo Lee Loveland is secretary to Thirlen Osborne, English professor. Her job consists of typing, helping to check papers, cutting stencils, and the usual clerical duties. Of her work, which she thoroughly enjoys, she says, “There is no other job on the campus I’d rather do.” Jo Lee, a "B” honor roll student, confesses that her job is not only financially rewarding, but that she has picked up a lot of knowledge about litera- COHEN'S Shelby, N.
