This certainly puts as behind in our development of a sen ior college program.” Sander Vanocur Speaks In Chapel Opportunity Coeds at Gardner-Webb Col lege will be given an unusual opportunity for a brighter fu ture during the week of Septem ber 22-26. Through a pilot Rubella Screening test sponsored by the Royster Memorial Hospital, young ladies who are interested can find out whether or not they have ever had Rubella (German Measles). German Measles is a mild viral disease but it has been proven that, if contracted by a woman while she is pregnant, the disease can cause eye de fects, mental retardation, con genital heart diseases, deafness and other complications to the unborn infant. There will be no cost. The program will be explained fully the week befo3re testing. Only the mimunity status is tested. Vaccination will be left up to the individual student to work out with his physician. Each girl would give 5cc (one teaspoon) of blood. The laboratory will check the titer of each blood sample and the results will be sent back to each student. This is the only program of its type in North Carolina and certainly an opportunity for Gardner-Webb students. Classiccs IV On September the twelfth six members of the Student Union attended a concert by the Clas sics rv at Appalachian State University. The Classics IV will be performing at G. W. on th the 18th of September. The sole purpose of the six members attending the early perfor mance is for screening, Mr. Tom Poston said, “The com- niittee has a certain position to occupy, and we want enter tainment to be in line with the policy of Gardner-Webb Col lege.” All contracts for entertain ment were signed last year in connection with seven other col lege entertainment commit tees. Since the student has to pay $7.50 for entertainment, he deserves the best his money can buy. It is therefore nec essary for a committee such as the Student Union to screen the entertainers before they perform at G. W.
