Academic departments will be open for conferences with par- Senate Briefs And Election Results On September 18 the Student Senate received its oath of office and approved the student justices. •The students appointed to the Entertainment Committee was an nounced by Bob Grant, SGA treasurer. These students are Fran- cine Walter, Robert Cribb, Jay Johnson, Barbara Puckett, and Francine Walter. The following motions were acted upon and given approval of the senate: A standing committee is to be appointed for the purpose of establishing guidelines and re lated functions concerning the cof feehouse; senators will attend all senate meetings unless excused by the Chairman of the Senate be cause of illness or other unav( able detainment. Missing two excused Senate meetings will suit with the beginning of peachment proceedings. A special committee of five is to be appointed to study and help in present ways of recruiting new students in cordination with the Student Personnel Services and the President’s Council on Recruiting. Election Results: President—Woody Wadsworth Vice Pres.—Parnell Campbell Secretary—Beverly Bahakel lowed by a Student Life question and answer session conducted by the SGA and Student Personnel Staff. Open house for resident halls will be held at 2:00 until 4:00 in the afternoon. The Art Depart ment will exhibit a collection of student work during this time. The football game will begin at 7:30 with the Bulldogs opposing the Quakers. This has been named "Big Red Day" and fans are en couraged to wear red, black, or white in support of the Bulldogs. Following Jim Croce will be comedian Jonothan Moore and closing the concert will be Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band. Food Services Reveal Changes A recent interview with Jack Green, ARA Food Services rep resentative, revealed several new approaches the cafeteria is tak ing in its service to students. The physical appearance of the cafeteria will be altered as plan ters filled with artifical flowers are installed to separate, the serv ing and dining areas. Drapes and larger tables are being added for practical reasons and for beauti- Egch month the cafeteria will feature an evening meal centered around a special theme. These will include a Halloween dinner and costume contest. Thanksgiv ing feast, and a Christmas dinner. Dur'ng the week of exams there will be a study break buffet. Each month a huge birthday cake will, be served to honor students cele brating their birthdays during the month. In addition to the festive eve ning meals, there are several brunches planned which will be accompanied by cartoons and slap- Mr. Green said he was aware of the overcrowdedness and serv ing problems, but felt that these problems would be alleviated with the help of students. He asked that students contact him when, there is any criticism or suggestions for the -cafeteria. I will be on^ of Homecoming’s highlifjhts. WeVe Only Just Begun “We’ve Only Just Begun" has been selected as the 1972 Home coming theme. Festivities included will begin on October 24 as Homecoming Ouee: :sented t: the student body during the Fouri- ders Day Program. Resident halls will observe the tradition of decorating their re spective halls and day students will join the competition for the Homecoming this year as they decorate the flagpole area. A new phase of competition is being plan ned as each class will be assigned a section of the stadium to dec orate. The trophies for these ac tivities will be given to winners during the Saturday evening con- The agenda for the week-end includes the Founders Day Dinner on Friday evening. Attended by a d m i n i s t r ation, alumni, and friends of the college, this pro gram will dedicate the John R. Dover Dover Jr. Memorial Chap el. Following the dinner the chap el will be open for tours. The performance of a small band will be at 9:00 p.m. in the Bulldog Room for students. Brunch and open house in the ' resident halls will lead Saturday's activities. Game time is 2:00 with the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and the recognition of her court during half-time activities. The week-end draws to a close on Saturday night with the con cert featuring Rick Nelson and Jim Croce, Helen Reddy Cancels .... .... Jim Croce Booked Mother Nature has cancelled the concert featuring Helen Reddy that was scheduled for October 28. Her husband manager decided that concerts would be too stren-. ous on the mother-to-be. The entertainmf was able to secure Mr. Jim Croce for the Homecoming con cert with Rick Nelson. Croce, formerly ,a part of the coffee house circuit, has two albums. “Jim and Ingrid” and "Don’t Mess Around with Jim.” Croce stated: “I think music should make people want to sit back and touch each other ... I just hope people get a kick out of it.”
