The plans are indefinite but a Senate Committee chaired by Rob ert Cribb is scheduling the events. Thursday night will begin the weekend activities with a concert. It is hoped to be an outdoor con- Friday night will involve the Spring Jubilee Ball with the format similar to last year’s event. The dress for the occasion wiU be semi- formal and the ball will begin at 7:30 p. m. The highlight of the night will be the crowning of the Spring Jubilee Queen. “Truth” a six piece dance band from Atlanta, Ga., will provide the music for the Spring Jubilee Ball. “Truth” is a popular regional band and show group. Saturday, April 28 may bring a carnival to campus. This would in volve the traditional cotton candy, candied apples and games. The plans for the campus carnival is only one idea being considered. Saturday afternoon will include the traditional open dorms, and Saturday night will feature a con cert. “True Direction,” formerly Black and White is among the groups being considered. The theme for Spring Jubilee 1973 has not been announced but it was revealed that the theme will revolve around the peace that has come to our country. Applications For Publications Editors Applications,are now being ac cepted for the positions of publi cation editors for the ANCHOR and the PILOT. These positions carry with them scholarships of $300 each. Any student with an overall 2.0 QPR is eligible to apply. Able and qualified students are needed to fill these vacancies, enabling better student communication at Gard ner-Webb. Students interested in applying for the position of editor of the yearbook or newspaper for 1973-74 should contact Mr. Bill Boyd or this year’s editors. Mr. Boyd is the Public Relations Director for the college and the publications ad- The deadline for all applications is April 4 and they can be sub mitted in room 112 Cip. The editors wiU be chosen by a com mittee. Festival of Christian Arts Features Philip Landgrave TRUTH, a six piece band, will provide the music for the Spring Jubilee Ball on Friday, April 27 in Bost Gymnasiui Spring Jubilee Preview Religious Emphasis Week will be held April 9-13 with the theme of “Faith, Art and Action” being em phasized through various forms of worship. The week will include an overview of Christianity and the creative arts. Beginning the activities will be required chapel on Monday mor ning featuring Dr. Philip Land grave. Dr. Landgrave has served as minister of music in several chur ches throughout Kentucky, Ala bama and Georgia. A graduate of Emory University, he received his doctorate at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has done post doctorate study at the Uni versity of California-Los Angeles. He is known for his sacred music compositions which include can tatas, folk musicals, one oratorio, and some one hundred anthems, hymns, solos and instrumental On Tuesday a contemporary wor ship service will be led by Dr. Land grave in the Dover Memorial Chapel. The session on Tuesday morning is not a required chapel assembly. Celebrate Life, a musical drama with contemporary rhythms and sounds will be pre sented by the Student Volunteer Choir on Friday. Assisting director Bob Decker will be faculty Hansen and Jenkins To Be Honored Graduation exercises will include the honoring of two outstanding men. Zenon C. R. Hansen, Mack Truck executive, and the late Rev. James L. Jenkins, well known Nor th Carolina educator and Baptist minister. Mr. Hansen is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Mack Trucks Inc. and Rev. Jenkins who passed away Tuesday after noon March 20, was a retired Bap tist minister who once served three years as president of Gardner- Webb when it was Boiling Springs Junior College. Rev. Jenkins had retired in 1952 from the pastorate of the Boiling Springs Baptist Church after serving as pastor for more than 25 years. Mr. Hansen joined Mack Trucks, Inc. in 1965 coming from the posi tion of president of Diamond T Motor Company, a firm in which he was associated with for 15 years. He was named president and a director of Mack Trucks, Inc. in 1965 and became chairman of the board and president in 1972. He was also chairman of the board and chief executive officer in 1972. He is also a director and member of the executive committee of the Signal Company, the parent company of Mack Trucks. Mr. Hansen holds four honorary doctorates from colleges and universities in the country. He is a native of Hibbing, Minnesota. Mr. Hansen has a long and dis tinguished record in the field of trucks and also in service organiza- He began his career with Inter national Harvest Co. in 1927 and rose through the ranks to become a district manager in 1944. On Thursday, a multi-media wor ship service using various audio visuals will be featured during the chapel time. This will include wor ship through slides, lights music, motion pictures, spoken word, and banners. The drama is scheduled to be pre sented on April 9 and April 17 at 8:00 in Hamrick Auditorium. Two newcomers will head the cast, according to Dr. Charles Cox, director. They include James Jeri- gan Jr. and John Sutton and they play Zuss and Nickles who assume the roles of God and Satan. Bruce Wade, a freshman, plays the prosperous and powerful J. B. who searches for the meaning of his afflictions; the loss of his children and everything he possesses. This production will be the last major performance for senior mem bers of the cast including Sharon Capps, Ed Middleton, Stan Napier and John Roberts.
