Page 3, THE PILOT Thursday, October 31,1974 Gardner-Wehb Hameanning Weeh Highlights Miss Debbie Burns being crowned during halftime ceremonies Impressions get help from the audience. During half-time activities of the Homecoming Game, Miss Debbie Burns was crowned Homecoming Queen. Debbie, daughter of Mrs. Edith Burns of Kings Mounteiin, is a physical education major. She has been a cheerleader for 4 years and is a member of the Girls Gymnastic team. She was Miss Shelby and received the Miss Congenality Award in the Miss North Caro lina Pageant. Hope Hathcock was the senior class attendant. Hope is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Hathcock of Charlotte. Hope is a music major and is a member of the Choral Ensemble. She was junior attendant to the homecoming court last year. Representing the junior class was Pam Evans. Pam is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl W. Evans of Mor- ganton. Pam is a member of the varsity cheerleading squad. Sophomore attendant was Renee Warren. Renee, of Lenoir, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Warren, Jr. Renee was a freshman cheerleader and is a psycho logy major. Freshman representative was Sherwin Johnson. Sherwin is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Johnson of StatesviUe. Sherwin is majoring in psychology. Sherwin is a class senator and was a member of the All- Star Powder Puff team. 4. — Action during Homecoming game. The annual Powder-Puff football game was held on Wed nesday, October 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Spangler Stadium. The opponents were the champion intramural team fromNanney and the All-Star team, picked from the best players in the other dorms. The “lovely cheerleaders” were selected by each player. The ball was received by the All-Stars on the one yard-line and moved to the third by Sue Mace. The game continued in favor of Nanney, and with two minutes left in the first half, a touchdown and an extra point were scored. The highlight of the half-time festivities was the crowning of the Powder Puff Queen. Many “lovely ladies” were in competition for the honor and the final decision was really touch. I’m sure. Finally after introduction of all the cheer leaders and their sponsors, first runner-up, Gary Robinson was announced. Moments later. Miss Powder-Puff 1974, Danny Cook, was crowned. Danny was attired in an ador able outfit: a light blue hip-hugger skirt with matching mid riff top. It was really a unique combination! Also during half-time. Sue Mace was chosen as the Most Valuable Player by the referees. Nanney Dorm was named the Most Valuable Girls’ Intramural Team for 1974. The second half continued with Nanney scoring another touchdown. The point was good, making the final score 14-0.
