“The Starry Messenger”
Next In Film Series
A series of films have be
gun showing at Gardner-
Webb on the Ascent of Man.
This compiled docvunented
series deals with the history
of man as a phenomenon in
which science emerges as a
natural activity in each age
of life. It is a program con
cerned with cultural evolu
tion and man’s progress in
this evolution. The late Dr.
Jacob Bronowski, noted
scientist, mathematician
and writer narrates the
series.
The Starry Messenger,
the sixth, has as one of its
themes the conflict between
dogma and science—a pro
blem that faces man today.
The Majestic Clockwork, is
about two intellectual giants
who have greatly added to
man’s knowledge of the uni
verse. The Driver For Power
is next hich shows a series of
revolutions; two political,
the other industrial. All
three, according to narrator
Dr. Bronowski, are social in
nature.

Recently, the Fellowship
of Christian Athletes’ Chap
ter at Gardner-Webb met.
The Fellowship is a national
organization which forces on
the importance of God and
Christianity in the life of
each athlete.
During the meeting, plans
were made to establish bet
ter FCA programs in various
surrounding high schools.
Several high school coaches
attended the meeting. Com
mittees have been chosen to
help establish a more enrich
ing chapter at Crest, Shelby,
and Burns High Schools.
Due to the success and ac
complishments of the chap

adult chapter in Shelby is in
the process of formation.
