THE PILOT, Page 3 Identify These Campus Buildings And Collect Pictures Reprinted From 1970 Pilot Guys To Get Curfews The Department of Health, Education, and Welfare has sent Gardner-Webb a notice that unless regulations are equalized for males and females federal troops will occupy the dormitories. In a recent speech at Wake Forest University, President Carter asserted, “I realize that Southern Baptists think they’re separate from the rest of the country, but as long as you live here, you must discontinue these discriminatory practices. The federal government cannot make you build hothouses (maybe they’re sinful, I don’t know), but if you take our money, you’ve got to start treating females as peo ple.” The Southern Baptist Association responded by inform ing GW officials that if we take away curfews for the girls, they will take away our accreditation. After much con sideration, GW’s trustees have decided to enforce curfews for the male students. A meeting of all male students will be held on Thursday, April 3, at 8 p.m. in Hamrick Audi torium, to inform them of signing-out procedures and cur few times. The Co-PUot Editor Yesmar L. Lady Bulldogs Blow The Smoke Out Of Winston As you know smoking is bad for your health, but it wasn’t bad for the Lady Bulldogs on Feb. 23, as they blew the smoke out of Winston-Salem. The team acted real well ex cept for the cigarettes that fell down the girls front, which burned the team up pretty bad, it was lucky they had water standing by. Even though the team won Saturday, they did not come home bare handed; they won a first place trophy, which stated on top. To The Hottest Team in the East. The hottest player for the tournament was Linda Ody, who was All Tournament Smoker with a total of 40 blow outs, for the three games played. Brenda Rear and Retal Etza both scored 24 blow outs on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs barked first place in the Division IV of the ANIA Women Intercollege Basketball. They smoked out the regular season with 18 mark. Reta Etzer, a sophomore at Gardner-Webb College led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with a 17 average. There were four other top smokers who did exceptionally well in scor ing: Map Pelton, a senior wing, with 17 blow outs, Susan Nail, a freshwoman center, with 17 blow outs, Brenda Rear, a freshwoman point, with 18 blow outs, and Linda Ody, a senior post, with 11 blow outs. Susan Nail also leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 10 per contest. As a team the Lady Bulldogs scored an average of 88 blow outs per game and averaged better than 41 rebounds per game. Coach Butterfield feels that this was the best season in ten years, in which they were ranked number one. Even though there will be two seniors leaving, Coach Butterfield is very optimistic about next season. The above article is strictly fictious and imaginary; the names that were changed were not intended to offend any one.
