The Bridge’s live in Greenville, S.C. Wofford B. Caughman, Jr., ’75, and Cathy Bailey Caughman, ’76, announce the birth of a son, Wof ford Boswell Caughman, III, born March 3.1979. Brenda Ellis Dunlevy, ’60, and husband Paul announce the birth of a son, Michael Shane, born February 15, 1979. The Dunlevy’s live in Kerners- ville, N.C. Guy Eckenroth, ’77, and Rhonda Rabon Eckenroth, ’77, announce the birth of a son, Kyle Harry, on December 15,1978. The Eckenroth’s live in Camden, S.C. Lynora Greene Essie, ’64, and husband Jerry announce the birth of a daughter. Holly Lynn, on January 15, 1979. The Essie’s live in Rural Hall, N.C. Rachael Eggers Gimble, ’71, and husband Terry announce the birth of a son, Jeremy Paul, on April 7,1979. The Gimble’s are living in Tyler, Texas. Barbara Lynn Marsh, ’73, and husband Charles announce the birth of a son, Charles Brandon, born March 30.1979. The Marsh’s live in Boiling Springs, N.C. Larry B. Sechrist, ’71, and Sara Russell Sechrist, ’71, announce the birth of a daughter, Lesly Ann, on March 2, 1979. The Sechrist’s also have a son Ryan who is four. Larry is presently serving as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Fort John son High School in Charleston, S.C. The Sechrist’s live in Charleston, S.C. ALUMNI UPDATE ’30s Reverend Woodrow W. Hill, ’37, has been named interim pastor of the Green Street Baptist Church in High Point, N.C. Mrs. Minna B. Rice, ’38, of Greenville, S.C. has been listed in the 1979 edition of the publication “The World’s Who’s Who of Women.” Mrs. Rice is a former guidance counselor in the Greenville County School System. ’40s Dorothy B. Austell, ’41, has received the North Carolina Association Award as “Underwriter of the Year for 1979”. Miss Austell is an agent with the Pilot Life Insurance Company in Raleigh. Miss Austell also serves as a Trustee at Gardner-Webb College. Ruby Duckworth Harwell, ’47, has been selected as Educator of the Year at the Hildebran Elementary School. Mrs. Harwell, a third grade teacher, has 22 years of experience in the classroom. Reverend Hubert L. Finley, ’49, has recently retired'from the Apalache Baptist Church in Greer, S.C. He had been pastor for 25 years. ’50s Ethel Modene Stroup, ’50, hcis been selected as Glen Alpine Elemen- tary’s Educator of the Year at the Hilde bran Elementary School. Ms. Stroup has 26 years of experience in education, serving as g teacher and librarian. She is presently serving as librarian for the school. Reverend James F. Parham, ’53, is now serving as pastor of Clyde First Baptist Church in Clyde, N.C. Reverend William A. Wallace, ’53, pastor of Englewood Baptist Church in Rocky Mount was re-elected to a fifth term as President of the Christian Action League of North Carolina. Bob Estes, ’54, has been called as the pastor of Grace Temple Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Gwyn P. Sullivan, ’55, has been awarded the Master of Divinity Degree from Southeastern Seminary. Reverend Sullivan is currently pastor of Bear Creek Baptist Church in Bakersville, N.C. Edward W. Baucom, ’58, has begun duties as superintendent of Cannon Mills Plant No. 19 at York, S.C. The Baucom’s live in Kannapolis, N.C. ’60s Joan R. McElfresh, ’60, has been named manager of Snelling and Snelling in Gastonia. She has been acting manager since June. Ms. McElfresh lives in Gastonia, N.C. Olin D. Hawkins, ’62, has re signed as president of United Citizens Bank recently. He has accepted a posi tion with the Northwestern Bank. He will be in a new position operating the branch administration department. Judy Hendrix Latham, ’65, has published a book entitled Women of the Bible: Helpful Friends. This book is part of the Bible Learners Series written for children in grades 1-6. Judy is married and has a four year old daughter. The Latham’s live in Nashville, Tn. Barbara Bridges Murray, ’65, has been accepted into Meharry Medical College School of Medicine. Ms. Murray is a graduate student in Biology at Alabama A & M University. Reverend John B. Goforth, ’67, has assumed pastoral duties at the Oakley Baptist Church in Siler City, N.C. Reverend Goforth is married and has 3 children. The Goforth’s will live in Siler City. Charles E. Thomas, ’67, has been elected as principal of Polk Central High School. He had been serving eis principal of Lailewood High School in Roseboro. ’70s Reg Alexander, ’71, formerly the Housing Rehabilitation Officer for the City of Kings Mountain has resigned to accept the position of Director of Christian Education at the New Hope Baptist Church in Gastonia. The Alexanders will remain in Kings Mountain. Michael Rodney Hendrik, ’72, has graduated from Southwestern Theological Seminciry with a Masters in Religious Education. Robert Bryant Livingston, ’72, has received the Master of Divinity Degree from Southeastern Seminary. He has been serving as pastor of the Sharon Baptist Church in Oxford, N.C. Ray Hannon, ’73, has been appointed as head football coach at East Davidson High School in Thomas- ville, N.C. Barbara Lynn Marsh, ’73, has recently received her Masters Degree from U.N.C. at Charlotte. The degree concentration was in Arts and Early Childhood Education. She teaches at Proctor Elementary School in Henrietta, N.C. David Ronald Allen, ’75, re ceived the Master of Divinity from Southeastern Theological Seminary. Ron is now awaiting appointment in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. John E. Barnhardt, ’75, recently received the Master of Divinity Degree frorn Southeastern Theological Semi nary in Wake Forest, N.C. John has been serving as pastor at the Levanon Christian Church. Richard John Dizbon, ’75, has been named principal of Pine Street ' Elementary School in Spartanburg County, S.C. Rick has received his Masters of Education from the Univer sity of South Carolina and is presently serving as assistant principal at Chap man Elementary School. John Preston Grimsley, ’75, has assumed duties at the North Roanoke Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia as associate pastor and youth director. Russell Neal Jenkins, Jr., ’75, recently completed studies at South western Theological Seminary and graduated with a Masters in Religious Education. Ann Elliott Lopez, ’75, received a master of divinity degree from South eastern Theological Seminary. Ann is now serving as director of Christian Social Ministries for the Northeast Pennsylvania Baptist Association in Saanton, Pa. Jerome Cash, ’76, has been called as pastor of the Concord Baptist Church in Creedmoor. He is a rising senior at Southeastern Theological Seminary. Robert Dominy, Jr., ’76, has recently graduated from Southwestern Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. Danny Emory, ’76, has received his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is now serving as pastor of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church in Landrum, S.C. Rodney Morrow, ’76, has earned his P.G.A. four Card at the recent Professional Golfers’ Association Qualifying School in Pinehurst. Phillip Nixon, ’76, was recently promoted to Branch Manager of Carolina State Bank in Gastonia. Phil and his wife Terri live in Gastonia, N.C. • Frank Paul Northcutt, ’76, recently received the Master of Divinity Degree from Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. William Grover Putnam, ’76, recently graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Semineiry. He was awarded the Master of Divinity Degree. He plans to work with the Greenville Baptist Association in Social Ministry. Sabra Clodfelter Schroder, ’76, has recently graduated from South western Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. Martha J. Stegall, ’76, has recently graduated with a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Gary H. Threatt, ’76, graduated July 13,1979 from Southwestern , Theological Semineiry with a Master of Divinity Degree. John David Apple, ’77, has graduated from Southwestern Theologi cal Seminary with a Masters in Religious Education. Virginia Hinton, ’77, was recently commissioned for foreign mission service at the Southern Baptist Conven tion held in June. Phillip Glenn Hughes, ’77, recently graduated from Southwestern Theological Seminary with a Masters in Religious Education. Phillip A. Collins, ’78, has been named minister of youth at the Wilson Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C. Robin K. Dover, ’78, is presently teaching a third grade at the Casar Elementary School in the Cleveland County System. Robin is living in Shelby, N.C. Steve Hardin, ’78, has been ceilled as the pastor of Pea Ridge Baptist Church. Mitchell Jolley, ’79, has recently been appointed staff accountant at Gardner-Webb College. Mitch is living in Rutherfordton, N.C. Eddie Tyndall, ’79, has been promoted to sales representative with Porter Brothers in Shelby, N.C. Eddie, Patti and daughter Jenny are living in Boiling Springs, N.C.
