With this increased activity comes a time where game stories become more numerous. So, I am asking for your help once again. Clemson won the rain- shortened event, which speaks for the caliber of competition the Bulldogs faced. ■■ by Jeff Melton The Bulldogs went to Wofford on November 23 as the twentieth-rated team in the NAIA, looking to end their season at 7- 4. However, six first half turn overs doomed their efforts. Despite a 30-point second half, the Bulldogs bowed to the Terriers 32-30 to close their season at 6-5. Tubbs And Paiker Lead Lady Bulldogs Through Victory, Close Defeat For thirty-five minutes, the Lady Bulldogs played a tremendous game against the visitors from Central Wesleyan. But the women were outscored 15-0 during the last five minutes of the first half, and that proved to be the difference as they lost 68- 52. Gloria Campbell and Kim Haywood paced the women with 10 points apiece, while Laura Martin added 9. The Lady Bull dogs had the lead at the outset at 7-4 before Central Westleyan took control of the tempo. A few G-W fouls later, CW led 23-17 with 5:27 left. It was at this point that the women could not buy a basket. CW ripped off 15 unanswered points to take a 38-17 halftime lead. The Lady Bull dogs outscored Central Wesleyan in the second half 37-31, but could only get within 10 points. Campbell and Martin fouled out to compound the G-W difficul ties. CW shot well throughout the game and came away with the win. PFEIFFER The women entered into the game 0-3, looking for their first win against an 0-4 Pfeiffer team. But the Lady Bulldogs only shot 23.7% from the floor and lost 70- 58. Laura Martin scored 16 points to lead the women. Martin played with an injury suffered in the game a- gainst Presbyte rian . Gardner-Webb was able to stay close in the first half. They led at one point 12-11, as Lisa Sabbarth came off the bench to contibute six points. She and Kim Haywood kept the women close as Pfeiffer only led by 8 at halftime. But with 13:27 left in the game, the visitors from Meisenheimer began to pull away. With 5:54 left, they led 67-47. The Lady Bulldogs tried furiously to came back, but the ef fort was not enough, as Pfeiffer won their first game of the year. Advertising with results!
