The Queen And
Her Court

It has been said that beau
ty is in the eye of the behol
der. On October 10, Gardner-
Webb will be presenting its
five homecoming attendants and
queen to parents, faculty,stu
dents, and community. These
girls were selected by fellow
students in their individual
classes.
Cara Barker, a senior Social
Science major form Spencer,
NC, replied, "I feel the po
sition of homecoming queen is
an honor given by fellow stu
dents and classmates."
Sandra Lynch, a senior Busi
ness Administrsition major from
Gastonia, NC, stated, "Being
homecoming queen wou]d be a
part of my life forever. I
will cherish it regardless to
what walk of life 1 enter upon
graduating from Gardner-Webb
College."
Beth Lajnb, a junior Social
Science major from Boiling
Springs, commented, "I feel
very honored to be homecoming
attendant. I hope 1 do a good
job of representing to junior
class."
Andrea Spears, a sophomore
Music Education major from
Wilkesboro, NC, responded,
"Being a sophomore attendant
is a great honor. 1 will al
ways look back on it as one of
my finest memories in col
lege . "
Amy Carroll, a freshman Nur
sing major from Northern, New
Jersey, said, ”I think it will
be very interesting since I
have never been to a homeco
ming before. I will be repre
senting the fresliman class and
would like to show everyone
what a close class we are."

Barker and Sandra Lynch.
TOP SECRET

Top Secret will be the per
forming band for GWC’s 1987
Homecoming dance. Top Secret
is a band that has many suc
cesses in their young career.
Among these are: they appeared
on Star Search (nationally
televised), fronted for the
Romantics at the Magic Attic
in Myrble Beach, and played
various clubs in coastal
towns.
The band hails from Morris
town but did not form until
four of the five members at
tended East Tennessee State
University. Top Secret con
sists of four males and a fe
male lead singer. The format
of the band is Top 40; however
they list their influences as
everything from new wave to
hard rock. The popular rock
group Heart has influenced Top
Secret the most.
PUTTIN’ ON THE HITS

For those of you who p3an
to stay on campus homecoming
weekeiid, there will be much to
entertain you. However, for
those students going home even
though fall break is just
around the corner, you will
miss out on all the fun and
festivities.
At 8:00 pm Friday night in
Dover Theatre, Gardner Webb
will present a special version
of the popular television show
"Puttin’ on the Hits." The
participcints will be GWC stu
dents lip-synching to hits by
recording cirtists such as Huey
Lewis and the News, Carmexi,
Olivia Newton-John, Robert
Palmer, Billy Idol, The Blues
Brothers, and Klymaxx to xiame
a few. Daniel Dye assures us
that these performers will be
in top form since they will be
competing for a grand prize of
75 dollars.
Following "Puttin’ on the
Hits" there will be a fire
works display at site to be
determined.
