However, there are several things which can make group travel an exci ting experience or a major ca tastrophe. Some of these com ponents are proper etiquette, guided tours, and your travel ing partners. Proper etiquette includes knowing how to order a meal in a fine restaurant. An example of improper etiquette would be to order a bowl of soup, taste it, decide it is not wanted, and have it replaced with something else. To add to this "faux pas" it seems very unappreciative especially if someone else is paying for the IlSr TOI3 ISSOE Theatre pg -1 Group Travel pg -1 Editorials pg. 2 The Barking Bulldog pg- 3 From the Fish Tank pg - 3 Sports pg- 4 Ink Spots pg-4 Take One pg-4 Chris Ferro as Paul Bratter, Mandy Thomas as Corrie Brat ter, Missy Whitlow as Mrs. Banks, Lewis Flounder as Mr. Velasco, Kevin Harbaugh as the Telephone Man, and Marc Cox as the Delivery Man. Also tipping is an ex tremely important aspect of proper etiquette. If a person does not leave the appropriate tip, the waiter is insulted. This is also true in cases of tipping bellhops. Guided tours provide a very general view of the city being visited. These tours can be very educational and are an excellent means for first time visitors to become familiar with a new town. However, for people who have been to a city multiple times, guided tours become too ele mentary because these people already have a basic knowledge of the city. Exploration of the town by simply walking throughout the various sec- i-ions becomes the best way to better familiarize oneself with the city and its culture. Traveling companions can make or break a trip for any one. Traveling in large groups makes it hard for the indivi dual to see what interests him or her. If in a large group, it would be better to break into several smaller groups allowing more flexibility to the trip. The tips listed above are to help travelers, whether ex perienced or not, to enjoy and to get the most out of a cul tural experience. Remember, there are many facades of any given culture and they all need to be experienced. Bon voyage!
