THE PILOT, Page 3 KHltf SVtlB &IAP lOC have A## ErVlclt^T VlCt P>«E&. To the editor, I "think I have found the solution to Robert L. Decker’s problem. First, I would like to correct Professor Decker’s interpretation of the students at Gardner-Webb. We are hy no means immature; we are just extremely bored with the sub ject matter chosen for convo cation. No one should be forced to listen, although they should show some respect for those who are interested by holding their noise to a low whisper. If Professor Decker wants to concentrate on the speaker so bad, maybe he should arrive early so he can get a front row seat. Hang in there Professor Decker. Name withheld by request Parking Problems To the editor. At the beginning of the year, everyone that has a car at GWC has to buy a parking sticker for the amount of $25.00. Why do we have to buy this sticker? Supposedly it is so we can safely park our cars in a lot. Well, that’s fine for everyone that has a par king lot but what about Hapy Dorm? We have nowhere to park. The buisness parking lot is right by Hapy but we get a $5.00 parking ticket when we park there. We cannot leave our cars parked on the street at night because then we get another ticket and possibly get our cars towed. There goes another forty some odd dollars just to get our car back. The next closest place to park is in Royster’s parking lot. That parking lot is not in the best condition, it isn’t well lit, and there is no way Royster and Hapy can fit there togeth er. Part of the parking lot is reserved for the doctor’s of fice so parking there puts us at risk for yet another ticket and being towed off. Our last resort is to park in Stroup’s parking lot. That is fine during the day, but if you work late or you are out late it is scary walking back to the dorm in the dark by yourself. We are tired of the college making money off of us when we are already paying an arm and a leg to come here. We just ask that you be fair. Have us pay the $25.00 and let us park on the street or in the buisness office parking lot, or give us back the $25.00 and we will find our own place to park. Pam Warrick & The Hapy Hoiikers To the editor, It has come to my attention that some people here at Gard- ner-Webb feel that the foot ball team is the most impor tant competitive athletic sport sponsored by the col lege. This can also be seen by the articles printed in the school newspaper. For exam ple, after reviewing the last "Pilot" printed I could find nothing about the conclusion of the other sports preformed during the football season. In speaking with my fellow students, I find that many are unaware that tennis and golf are even offered as fall sports. Many are also unaware that the soccer and vollyball seasons have ended. How are all other sports supposed to have the school spirit needed to help promote a winning team if the students have no idea where or when the sports are being played. In conclusion, there are a number of different sports of fered at Gardner-Webb that are as equally importcint as foot ball. Why not devote a little time £ind space to report how they are doing, too. Name withheld by request -Editors’ Note: We certainly appreciate your request for more extensive sports coverage, cind just as soon as we can get more than one staff sportswriter, we’ll be more than happy to oblige. TAKE ONE: A Review Of Fatal Attraction” By Danny Reece "Fatal Attraction," the suspense thriller starring Glenn Close, Michael Douglas, and Anne Archer, has been this fall’s big box office success, and for once this success is deserved. This film rivets all attention to the screen and demands that one use only the front portion of one’s seat. Douglas plays a New York lawyer who has a weekend fling with business associate Close while Archer and the children are visiting in the country. He assumes, and is led to be lieve by Close, that the af fair is a matter of conven ience- nice, neat, no harms, no strings. This view is sub sequently shot to pieces as Close reveals what a treach erous, mentally imbalanced monster she is. Her perfor mance in this film can only be considered superb, for surpas sing Anthony Perkins’ Norman Bates or any other previous psycho. Close has the ability to make the audience like her, make them sympathize with her, all the while wondering why. Michael Douglas and Anne Archer also bring strong per formances to this film. Archer especially conveys a sense of beauty and strength as the mother, and the real victim. By all means, see this movie. I predict it will become a classic in the vein of Hitch cock ’s f inest. 105 South Main St. Across the street from GWC 434-9550 10% discount for GWC students and faculty with coupon Boiling Springs Florist Balloons for all Occasions • Flowers for all Occasions FRESH, SILK, PERMANENT 434-9662 Renee Walker, Mani^er — Lela Blanton, Owner LOCATED ON HIGHWAY ISO IVi mi.
