The Pilot, Page 2 Dean, President Replace Faculty OMI announced Saturday that the entire G-W faculty will be replaced for the 1989-90 school year. After careful consideration, the President and the Dean came to the re luctant conclusion that only a most radical reform could treat the problem. In an interview conducted by phone late Saturday even ing, Dr. Bonner outlined the extent of the problem. "About half the present faculty has been at Gardner-Webb since the 60s," he said. "Obviously, these 'flower children' have not adapted well to a post revolution mentality that now governs our nation and our institution." Bonner went on to explain that more recently- hired faculty members have not been able to create a more peaceful atmosphere. "Two or three in particular," he says have very uncooperative atti tudes and, of course, agitate the Old Guard. Sadness was evident in the voice of Dr. White, who said in a brief public statement Saturday evening "many of these people are close friends of mine, have been in my home. Each and every one is an exel- lent teacher, but we just cannot face the '90s without the proper faculty atmosphere." We know what you’re looking for. Says one professor, "Hopefully, within the next year or two all students will make A's in the class. This year we were a little rough on the students." A statistical breakdown of the grades showed: 75 A's, 23 B's, 2 C's, and 1 D' (the D' student only attended 3 classes). To achieve this phenomenal rate of A' students, biology professors met at the begin ning of the fall semester to discuss curriculum adjust ments. At this meeting, it was decided that reproduction would be the exclusive subject taught during the semester. "Why not? That seems to be what students understand the most," a professor stated. Testing for material was done orally and based on the student's understanding of reproduction. The biology department crackdown was only the first step in GWC's new "raise the grades and the tuition" pro gram. Sources close to The Pilot say the history depart ment is next on the agenda. The eventual goal of the program is to have 85% of all Gardner-Webb students possess a 4.0 Q.P.A. while paying $25,129.76 a year to attend the college. Sources in the administration say within 3 years this goal should be accomplished. "Choir" continued from pg. i to do their world-famous and Grammy-award winning "Mary had a little lamb, opus 15.7". The maestro. Dr. Phil Perrin, thoroughly enjoyed the tour. "I really felt that headlining Mao Tse Tung-land was the high point of the tour. Also, Contra Concertium in Nicaragua was fun... very action-packed. Since completion of the tour, the choir has not been idle. Just last week the choir put the finishing touches on their soon-to-be released album, "The Concert Choir meets Tone Loc" (the previous album "Run D.M.C. and Choir" went quadruple platinum). To accompany the new album, an hour-long video of rare concert footage is being produced. Extra, Extra, Read All About It! Extra, Extra, Read All About It!
