What’s New!

Spring has come to Gardner-Webb
College and brought with it flowers in
bloom and a baby boom. Yes, that’s right—
a baby boom. The Gardner-Webb College
family continues to grow, with four new
members added since December 25th.
Cheryl Potter, an interpreter with the
hearing impaired program, began the
Gardner-Webb baby boom with a bouncing
Christmas baby (9 lbs. 10 oz!). Phillip and
Cheryl Potter are the proud parents of
Lauren Ashley Potter, born December 25,
1989.
Lisa and Ozzie McFarland were next
up to bat and on February 15, 1990, they
welcomed Russell Adam McFarland to the
Gardner-Webb family. Russell Adam
tipped the scales at just over 8 pounds.
More recently. Admissions Director
Randy Kilby and wife Dana added another
boy to Gardner-Webb family. Joshua Ran
dall Kilby, their first child, was born March
16,1990 and weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz.
Adding to the growing excitement of
"Baby Mania ‘90", Dr. Rudee Boan and wife
Robi adopted a newborn son, Jordan Quen
tin Xavier Boan. Born March 12th, the baby!
Boan weighed in at 7 lbs. 1 oz.
With the addition olthese four fresh
faces, there are a couple of questions that
come to mind: 1) Is it time for a nursery on i
campus? and 2) What are they putting in the j
water around here?
Congratulations to all the proud;'
parents and may you and your children live
jgro^erous lives.

"FOOTBALL"
from page 6
Touted as potentially the greatest back
to ever don the black and red of Gardner-
Webb, redshirt freshman Robby Holloway
was used sparingly throughout the game.
Though the defense was obviously keying
on him when he was in the lineup, Holloway
managed to chalk up two touchdown runs.
He showed good strength in several runs up
the middle. Holloway also exhibited good
hands in catching screen passes, including
one that set up the offense’s final touch
down. Though the offense went on to a
42-35 "victory," several defensive players
merited m.ention. Free safety Hoyt Bynum
was consistently around the ball and also
snared a second half interception. Fresh
man linebackers Chris Griffin and Mike
McFadden also played well and should give
support to starter Darren Nosal next
season.
Pending further development of the
very young and inexperienced offensive
line, the Runnin’ Bulldogs will be picked as
one of the nation’s elite going into this fall.
On offense, both the quarterback and run
ning back positions are deep with talent.
The ’Dogs, defensively, appear solid
throughout. With a bumper crop of recruits
expected in August, Spangler Stadium will
be the place to be for major excitement in
1990.
