The annual event officially opens the Christinas season at GWU. This year she attained the position of the North Carolina Association of Residence Hall’s (NCARH) State Board Associate Director of Finance. “1 wanted to make a big ger dilference for Gardner- Webb,” said Mills when describing her reason for her bid for the state position. “1 wanted to make a name for it (GWU) belore I graduate,” she said. RHA advisor, Julie Laughlin, stated that having Mills on the stale board is a connection that Gardner- Webb would not otherwise have. Not only does having a connection give GWU an advantage, but it is also a good way to attract people to Gardner-Webb University. Laughlin said that she had about three people wanting to work at Gardner-Webb because they saw the good representation at the confer ences, good standing with awards and quality programs. Mills’ job includes sit ting in on state board meet ings and putting together a budget. Also, she gets to lead activities, such as col lecting money for schools to gel involved with NCARH and helping to decide what school gets to host the Winter Summit. Even though she is a senior, Mills has hopes for the future of RHA. “1 want to see it continue to grow. We have awesome people who can add more to the program,” she said.
