Max Gardner III has filed a complaint against the three lawyers hired to investigate alle gations sur rounding the university. Now that a complaint has actually been filed, many people are ask ing what reper cussions are in Gardner store for Gardner-Webb. The complaint, filed Nov. 12 with the N.C. State Bar and Bill Young, Cleveland County dis trict attorney, alleges that Ed Hallman and his associates prac ticed law in North Carolina with out a N.C. license during their investigation. In the complaint, Gardner requested that Hallman’s firm be ordered to refund any legal fees Gardner-Webb paid the attor neys. N.C. law says that it is a mis demeanor to give legal advice, perform legal services or to pre pare any other legal documents. An attorney licensed by the state bar must file a complaint before an investigation can take place. The play, “ The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe,” is being performed at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 through 25 in the Millennium Playhouse. The play is a conglomera tion of monologues from characters with very different lifestyles. The play revolves around Trudy, a veiy unusual lady who tells about her ‘space chums’ coming and visiting Earth looking for intelligent life. Trudy brings the aspect of comedy to the play, which touches on many parts of life, including love, divorce and drugs. Trudy tries to help her space friends by helping them search for intelligent life on her planet. Many serious and controversial subjects are brought up by each charac ter. The play addresses issues that many people deal with daily but are afraid to talk about. Some of the things are shocking, while others are typical. A troubled teenager, for example, states her view of life, which is vastly different from her grandparents’ view. The play is set in the 1970s and 80s. The time period of the play brings up issues of feminism, animal rights and religious beliefs.
