The theme of Celebration Week caught the idea of having strong vertical and horizontal relationships. Andy Byers, director of student min istries, explained it as“looking up to God, and then understanding God [is] calling us to look out to others, expressing His love to them.” Celebration Week began at 7 p.m. Monday in Dover Theatre.with Laurie Pinkert’s challenge to be a part of what God is doing now. It continued during the Dimensions hour on both Tuesday and Thursday, with services at 6 p.m. those nights, as well as a 7 p.m. service Wednesday. The week ended Thursday night with Pamela Darnell’s testimony encouraging us to pray for our brothers and sisters around us rather than trying to perform service as Christians. Tracy Jessup, minister to the univer sity and Gardner-Webb alumnus, stated that Celebration Week has been going on at least since he was a freshman here in 1985. His hope is that it will plant an “enduring passion to Christ” in all stu dents who attend. Though organized mostly by Byers and Jessup, the revival was designed for, and is led annually, by students. see WEEK page 2 Blackburn White speaks Musical hits GWU Men Wrestlers lose News.... page 2-3 takes new at Divinity theaters and upset App. close match to Op/Ed.... page 4 position Sciiool gets rave State Duke Features... page 5 service.... reviews A&E.... page 6 page 2 page 3 pages 6 page 7 page 8 Sports page 7,8
