Going to the Fair is a must-do for
many Cleveland County residents,
including Gardner-Webb students and
staff. It’s popularity stems from the
availability of entertainment, friends
and food.
People go to the fair for a variety
of reasons — rides, shows, animals,
mullet hunting and eating, which are
all favorites for fair goers.
This year, the fair boasts of over
35 rides and hundreds of live shows
over its 10-day run. Entertainers
include 21-year-old Pryor Dawson of
Charlotte, as well as Jim Herrington,
Leon Jacbos Jr. and Cora and Shannon,
both elephants at the fair. Other points
of interest include a rodeo, animal
judging, a demolition derby, a bike
stunt show and the Miss Cleveland
County pageant.
Joe Goforth, the fair’s organizer,
said that the biggest draw for people
attending the fair, however, is the
rides.
“We have a good program,” he
'said. “We have something in there for
everyone.”
