WGWG 88.3 has added yet
another program that proves to be
something a little different.
As of Nov. 16, Clayton King
Live, a nationally syndicated call-in
show, called WGWG home, airing
Sunday nights from 9-11 p.m. The
show features Clayton King, Gardner-
Webb alumnus and founder of
Crossroads Ministries of Shelby and
addresses the current issues of today’s
society. He is joined by his cohost,
Stephen Furtick, who is also a part of
Crossroads Ministries and has worked
with King on the show for about two
years.
While there is no age demograph
ic assigned to the show, students and
adults are encouraged to call with
questions and comments about vari
ous issues. Topics addressed in the
past are war, pornography, eating dis
orders, homosexuality and music. On
Nov. 30, King will discuss the rela
tionship between faith and politics.
“We try to tackle some the
tougher issues,” said King. “We pray
about the show and ask the Lord to
give us wisdom on what topics to
address. We also try to address issues
that are culturally relevant.”
King also emphasized that the
show is not just for Christians.
“We encourage people of all
faiths as well as atheists to call in,” he
said.
King began his first call-in show.
Freestyle, in 1997 and aired from
WRCM in Charlotte. Moving to
WLFJ in Greenville, S.C. in 2001,
King changed the name of the show to
Clayton King Live.
King decided to move to WGWG
to be closer to his home.
Dan McClellan, station manager
for WGWG, feels that the show will
be a great asset to WGWG and GWU
as a whole.
"We are very excited to have
Clayton King Live airing from
WGWG studios," said McClellan.
"The show will help our continuing
efforts to raise the profile of WGWG
in the community as well as give our
students the opportunity to gain work
experience on a syndicated call-in
show."
McClellan also emphasizes the
benefits the show will provide GWU
communications and broadcasting
majors.
"The combination of our new stu
dio and this show will give GWU
communications students an advan
tage when entering the job field," he
said.
King is excited about moving his
show to WGWG.
“We are really excited about the
opportunity to partner with GWU,” he
said. “We are thankful for this oppor
tunity.”
