Amanda Wood Pilot Staff The members of Gardner- Webb University’s Student Government Association are busy these days. “We are in a transition phase,” said Student Body President Chin Carter. According to Carter, the SGA is in the process of wrapping up projects and preparing for next semester. “Our goal over the last summer was summed up in two words — communication and completion,” Carter said. Vice President Kellie Robinson echoes Carter’s concerns. “We have so many projects,” said Vice President Kellie Robinson. “I want to see all of. them come to a stopping point or be completed by the end of this year.” SGA is involved in several pro jects, including restocking Lake Hollifield with fish and ensuring last year’s yearbooks are in stu dents’ hands by May. SGA is also involved with putting up the honor code in every classroom and con tinuing communication with the cafeteria concerning students’ food needs. “SGA is the voice for students to take matters to other parts of campus - administration, faculty,” Carter said. He welcomes student input as long as it is specific. We as a student government wish students would give us details,” Carter said. Robinson feels that SGA helps mediate between the student body and GWU administration. We build the bonds between students and administration and tiy- to break down barriers of commu nication,” Robinson said. She also welcomes suggestions from students and says senators are active in raising their constituents’ concerns in senate meetings. “If we hear it, we bring it up,” Robinson said. In addition to their ongoing projects and other responsibilities, SGA members are also preparing for upcoming elections. Robinson, a junior who has been involved with the SGA since her freshman year, is planning a run for president. “That’s my intention at this point,” Robinson said. Executive Council speeches will be held on March 23 in Dimensions. Voting will take place after the speeches conclude. SGA is planning to hand out eligibility information in the com ing weeks.
