Page 8 Friday, October 28, 2005 JU (Far Left) Gardner-Webb studnets took time to pray with each family in whose homes they worked. Freshman Sarah gently prays with Debra Anderson after finishing the relief work done on her house. (Left) GWU students gather In a circle holding hands as they pray. The team considered It a high priority to pray with the owners of the houses they worked at. (Below) Mild in comparison to where the eye hit, debris can be found strewn all over the beach front in Gulfport, Miss. Anything from trees to mattresses are found on the beach. A large portion of the boardwalk was also knocked out during Katrina. The beach has been closed until it can be cleaned up. Entrance streets are guarded by U.S. Army soldiers, who only allow residents through. (Right) Freshman Matt Jones places material to be thrown out on a ruined treadmill. The entire room had to be cleaned out and the walls ripped down because of mold. (Above Top) Dawn Anthony holds up a Blues Clues doll to give Destiny Worthen while she held a trashbag and helped straighten up her house. Destiny enjoyed working alongside of the students. (Above) This is a group picture of the mission team taken outside of Barbara Thompson’s house. The students did jobs such as tearing out the walls and the insulation, and getting the logs from the trees that had fallen in her back yard. iCheck out www.gwupilot.com for audio and video cov- jerage of GWU relief efforts along the hurricane-rav aged Gulf coast.
