There are 33 positions available, including senior class president, and representatives for the junior class, sophomore class. College of Arts and Sciences, Cameron School of Business, Watson School of Education, School of Nursing, graduate school, Non-Traditional Student representative and At-Large representative. All of the positions have two seats that will need to be filled, with the exception of at-large representatives, which will require 15 new students. All applications for these posi tions were submitted to the SGA office by Feb. 10. The Election Board Committee examines all application materials and monitors election activities in order to ensure all candidate requirements are met and campaign rules are followed. All candidates meet with the board prior to campaigning to discuss the rules and regulations of campaign ing. “1 believe the election process is a good one, and 1 hope it will engage a lot of students this year,” said Bradley Ballou, current SGA President. “1 am willing to talk with any student who has questions and/or concerns about the voting process if they contact me,” Ballou said. Campaigning for all positions began yesterday at 8 a.m. On March 20 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., the class officers will debate at the amphitheater on campus, giv ing students a chance to listen to the contenders speak on a variety of subjects concerning their aspira tions for office. Later that day there will also be a Presidential and Vice Presidential debate from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Hawk’s Nest. “1 think in the past years the process of the campaign has been very clear. 1 felt that I was made aware of the candidates and how to vote for them. The debates were helpful because the decision of who to vote for was based largely on presentation,” said Nathan Branson, UNCW junior Students will have the oppor tunity to vote online at their con venience beginning March 21 at midnight and continuing through March 25 at 5 p.m. If no campaign regulations are violated, the ten tative date for election results to be announced will be March 23.
