Knights In Action
During Campbell Contest

Knighis Lose Oul To

A fine team effort by tihe
Knights almost claimed tflie
game Monday night as the St.
Andrews five were edged by
the taU Camels of Campbell
College, 89^.
In a game tthat started off
as a shooting exhibition by the
visitors, the contest quickly
turned into a defense stand by
both teams.
St. Andrews was constantly
trying to keep ,the ball ifrom
the giant forwards and cen
ters of the Campbell team. The
Camels were forced to use their
height advantage to stop the
jump-shot artists of the home
squad.
Even with ithe loom of ex
ams two days away, student
support was high for tihe game.
From the sidelines came cheers
of (Unending encouragement as

Knights Tread
On Frederick
College 83-92
If there had been any rafters
to speak of at the Laurinburg
National Guard Armory on Fri
day night, Jan. 11; those rafters
wouldn’t be there today. The
basketball Knights literally
shook the rafters and Frederick
College for an 83 to 92 victory.
In what was clearly the best
team effort of the season Coach
Spencer Boyd’s Knights fought
the Virginians from Frederick
College on their own terms for
three quarters of the game and
then turned the game into the
fast moving type that is char
acteristic of the ’62-’63 Knights.
Jerry Dawson and Doug Max
well kept the Knights in the
game during the first half with
their timely shooting and re
bounding.
I n it e r m i s sion found the
Knights behind one point. As
play began, Joe Budcner found
the range and Frederick could
not stop another combination
of Joe Buckner, Joe Speaks, and
Ken Miller. The Knights found
their biggest boost in the final
half, as apparently cool Bill
Grossman became the hottest
thing on the court and with
dead accuracy from the foul
line, brought the Knights to
victory.
Joe Buckner’s points led St.
Andrews, followed by Bill Gross
man.
