Wallace’s topic at the economics meeting was “The State of the National Eco nomy.” Photo courtesy, Laurinburg Exchange March 4 St. Andrev/s students are Invited to the Christian Action Conference sponsored by Fayette ville Presbytery to be held in the Student Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Elder James McBride Dabbs will lecture on “The Church and the Race Problem.” Mr. Dabbs has served on the faculties of the University of South Carolina and Coker College. At the latter he was head of the English Depart ment. He presently lives at Mays- ville, South Carolina. Dabbs has written over a hundred articles on domestic relations, especially race relations, for such maga zines as CHRISTIAN CENTURY. Following this address, Dr. Ru- doph Jones will moderate a dis cussion on Dabbs’ lecture. Jones is an elder in Fayetteville Presby tery and president of Fayetteville State College. Dr, Merle D. Patterson has recently left the ministry to work with the office of Economic Oppor- Davenport To Menninger Clinic, SA Races “Sparky,” Grad News Davenport CXir college pastor. Rev. Ro bert F. Davenport, has been cho sen as a member of a small group to receive grants for study next year at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Davenport has been given a leave of absence from Agusut 1 tc June 30 by the college to pursue his studies in counseling under the Meninger Foundation grant. “This selection is a very fine compliment to Mr. Davenport and to St. Andrews,” said President Ansley C. Tufts University is the de fending champion, and the word is out that the Free University of West Berlin is out to beat the champion. Keep your fingers crossed for “Sparky”! ADMINISTRATION NEWS In an effort to aid faculty ad visors and students planning gra duate work, a library of graduate school catalogs, application forms and information on financial aid is now being established. Snap That Photo, Lance Will Pay! A photography contest, spon sored by the LANCE, is open to all St. Andrews students, faculty and administration. There are three categories:Hu man interest, campus life (SA campus only) and sports action. Cash awards of $5 will be given to the person whose picture is chosen as the best in each cate gory. A $10 grand prize will be awarded for the best overall snap shot. Pictures will be judged on a black and white basis. Color shots may be entered but will not receive any preference. Contestant’s name should be written on the back of each picture along with the category. Failure to do so will disqualify the pic ture. All entries must be turned in no later than Thursday, March 9. Hall,pastoi of Covenant Presbyterian Churct in Charlotte, will head the Board o Advisors; and Howard Holderness Greensboro Insurance executive will- lead the Board of Visitors Southeastern Company Seeks Bible Belt Salesman PIP mfsrn II Four St, Andrews students have been selected to participate in the summer sales program of the Southwestern Company of Nash ville, Tennessee. The company, which sells Bibles and other re ligious books on a door-to-door basis, selects about 4000 college students each year to aid them in their sales distribution in the summer months. The company provides train ing and experience in sales, bus iness management, and in public relations. All salesmen are se lected by interview by the cam pus sales manager. Junior Bill Shomo, sophomores Larry McDaniel and Jimmy Holler, and freshman Brent Rhue have been selected by the St. Andrews representative, David Henderson. Henderson, who earned more than $1700 last summer, is now recruiting salesmen, and has openings for six more students. Henderson states that the aver age earnings are $735 a month.
