Foundation are expected for the
conference which opens today in
Washington, D.C, and ends Sa
turday.
Dr. Miller, assistant dean and
professor of chemistry, directs
the NSF-sponsored College
Science Improvement Program
grant at St. Andrews, one of
the first 15 colleges in the
country to win a COSIP grant.
Accompanying Miller will be
Dr. Donald G. Barnes, project
director for the instructional
equipment grant in chemistry
which the NSF has awarded to
St. Andrews.

It is not the “sex hangup”
that Is germane to the ap
propriateness of Individual
conduct in the light of personal
freedom, but rather the “re
sponsibility hangup” on the part
of those who haven’t yet recog
nized that the goals of the col
lege community can be
destroyed by inept individual
behavior, whether such be
havior involves sex,booze,
dope, brawls, destruction of
property, or other disruptions.
To the extent that group objec
tives (and therefore the indi
vidual objectives of those who
associated with the group for
commonality of purpose) are
fractionated by incompatible in
dividual conduct, the “personal
freedom” thereby “gained”
represents an empty victory.
