One Act Plays
Student Directed
May 9 And 10
Two one act plays will be
presented next Tuesday and
Wednesday, May 9 and 10 in
the Liberal Arts Auditorium
at 8 p.m.
The plays are “BoxandCox,”
a 19th century British comedy,
and “The Lesson,” by Ionesco,
The cast for “Box and Cox”
includes Bill Forrest, Box;
David Dolge, Cox; and Patsy
Qttut, Mrs. Bouncer.
The cast for “The Lesson”
is Neal Bushoven, the pro
fessor; Beege Barkett, the stu
dent; and Sydney Humphress,
the maid.
The student directors are Jim
Pope, “Box and Cox”; and Linda
Logan, “The Lesson.”

The Division of Art, Music,
d Theatre will present the
t, Andrews Chorale in a con-
ert of sacred music at 7:30
P.m. on Tuesday, May 9, in the
First United Methodist Church
of Laurinburg.
The Chorale, under the di-
ectlon of Edwin Barlow, is
composed of thirty-six mem-
Ts, thirty of whom are fresh-
roen. Originally organized as a
‘‘training choir”, the Chorale
grown into an exciting per-
rming group. In December it
rformed J.S. Bach’s “Magni-
flcant In D” in a program of
hristmas music.
The program for Tuesday’s
concert is to include Mozart’s
^ Regina Coell” and Faure’s
equiem”, as well as works
by Palestrina, Farrant, Verdi,
rschesnokoff, Thompson, and
ugene Butler.

Dr, Paxton, a 34-year-old na
tive of Granite, CMahoma, is a
graduate of CMahomaStateUni
versity where he majored in
personnel management. He also
received his Master of Science
In economics there and last
year earned his PluD. atTulane
University, He was an in
structor at Loyola University
for two years before joining the
Old Dominion faculty in 1968.
At the Norfolk Institution he
has been active in the faculty
and university senate. He is
co-author with J,W, Nickson of
“A Study Guide for Nickson’s
Economics and Social Choice,”
He also has authored a number
of research reports for Vir
ginia cities on projects funded

by the Omnibus Crime Control |
Act.
Dr. Rodney Fulcher, chair
man of the Division of History
and Social Sciences, said that
Paxton would, in addition to eco
nomics courses, teach as a
member of the jimior and sen
ior year Christianity and Cul
ture teams. He will lecture on
problems of economic develop
ment in the junior course, In-
tercultural Studies of the Third
World, and in the senior course.
Future Studies.
Smith, a native of Cleveland,
Ohio, joined the St. Andrews
faculty in 1970. He receivedhis
Bachelor of Fine Arts at Miami
University of Ohio and held a
teaching fellowship while earn
ing his M.F.A. atBowling Green
State University,
Weimer also joined the faculty
here in 1970 as an instructor in
music education. A native of
Mansfield, Ohio, he won his
Bachelor of Music at CXiioState
and his M.M. at the University
of Illinois.
