St. Andrews rang up ips tenth
soccer win of the season Tues
day with a 3-1 victory a:t Pem
broke State University. The win
in a physically bruising game
virtually clinched a third-place
finish in NAIA District 29 re
gular season play and assured
the Knights a spot in the Dis
trict tournament opening No
vember 14.
Prem Thoonkapbalin scored
all three goals for Coach Rob
Klnne’s Knights, the second
time this season he has scored
“the hat trick”. With two of
St. Andrews’ top four scorers
missing the game because of
injuries, Prem’s performance
was a timely one.
The sophomore from Bang
kok, Thailand got his first goal
13 minutes into the first half
when the Knights were awarded
a penalty kick. The Braves
evened the score up with eight
minutes left in the half. Yeager
lofted a kick from 18 yards
out that was literally in the top
right corner just beyond Goalie
John Bush’s finger tips. An
inch or two higher on wider
and the shot would have hit
the goal post or top bar.
Just as a half-time tie was
looming Senior Broad Hale
managed to partially clear the
ball from a scramble that de-
v 61 o p e d when a P e mbroke
goalie had stopped a shot but
dropped the ball. Thoonkapbalin
spotted the loose ball and tap
ped it into the Braves goal with
3:45 left In the half.
St. Andrews held its 2-1 lead
through 30 minutes of the se
cond half until Thoonkapbalin
got the final goal of the hotly-
contested game. Thoonkapbalin
started goalward with the ball
but when the Braves defense
converged on him, passed to
Rick Judge. Judge drew the
defense out, then passed back
to Thoonkapbalin who then boot
ed it home for the final 3-1
margin. ^
Early In the second half St.
Andrews lost Freshman Dave
Miller in a pike-up In the Pem
broke goal. What at first
appeared to.be a broken leg for
the versatile first-year' man
who learned the game In Afri
ca, proved to be only a painful
Injury. Whether he can be readj
for Friday’s game at EastCaro-
Una Is not yet known. For
wards Don Cooper and John
Catmur and Fullback John La-
Guardia, all of whom missed
the Pembroke game, are to
see an orthpedlc specialist this
week to determine when they can
return to action.

Tom Warren, of Granville
dorm, also commented that the
freshmen were the most active
group inhlsdormduringforums
which gave him imput too.
Another senator added that
If the freshman class was not
being as adequately represented
as the others it was the Sena
tors’ fault for not doing their job
properly.
Phil Bradley, afreshmanwho
sat in on the meeting, stated he
knew of only one position in
student government which al
lowed freshman representation.
That committee was the Student
Life which meant that for a
freshman to parcipate in stu
dent government the individual
would have to wait until the
following spring when elections
are held again.
Weaver stated that freshmen
are represented, but not by
holding physical office. A mo
tion to have freshman repre-
sentitives on the Senate died
for lack of a second.
Before closing, Decker stated
that the new Health Center
facilites were progressing on
schedule with plans to be fina
lized in the next week, requests
for bids will go out in approxi
mately three weeks, with all
bids being in four weeks after
that.
