—————— 4 Letters . . . (“Peter Benchley” a pseudonym (we presume) of a concerned St. Andrews community member, has been warning his fellow citizens of a threat to their safety for over a month. His first letter, in the September 25 issue of THE LANCE, posed questions about the disappearance of a number of students, among them former Student Association President PhU Brodley as well as a number of rowboats, and concluded that a 25 foot great white shark in Lake Moore was behind the disappearances. The crisis was somewhat abated on October 23 when Bradley wrote THE LANCE to proclaim his continued existence, referring to a “vicious rumor that I have been consumed by a great white shark in Lake Ansley Moore. This is not true! ” “Benchley,” expressing relief at Bradley’s “resurfacing” in the public view, wrote again on October 30 that “the shark is there! ” and wondered where former president Donald Hart and professor Catherine Neylans had gotten to. Apparently his repeated warnings have not aroused the public to the danger; today “Benchley” presents “proof” of his charges. - Ed) Shark Proof! To the Editor: The letter you published last week was received with great skepticism and doubt by the St. Andrews community. After extensive research,sufficient- evidence has been uncovered to back me iq) in my con tention that a great white shark is terrorizing Lake Moore. I had to look in some t(p secret places so my sour ces cannot be revealed. I discovered a few things in my search; 1) There is a Mr. Ebeneeser Jmes hired by the audio visual center whose soul pur pose is to retouch phot(^r£^hs with hard ewe evidence of the shark, erasing the [ffoof. 2) Bun Perkinson never swims. 3) The real reason Gerald Ford would not come to dedicate the Rehabilitation Caiter is that the Secret Ser vice is afraid he might want to take a dip in our lake. 4) Lake Ansley Moore has been condemned by the public health department. Why are these things true? What (Mie fact unites them? Enclosed is a series of photographs discovered by an unnamed assistant exposing the entire truth. Here is a brief description of each; (1) Ducks going on strike and refusing to swim. (2,3,4) “Former” students. These photos were originally retouched by Mr. Jones. (5) PROOF POSITIVE. (6) Possible ranains. (Gone but not forgotten) (7) This could be happening RIGHT NOW! (8, 9, 10) Possible solutions to the problem. Now that you have the proof it is up to you to act on it, DON’T DELAY! Sincerely, Peter Bwchley f L What makes these ducks so nervous? 2. Exhibit A 4. Exhibit C 3. Exhibit B 5. From Admissions Office brochures. 6. Is this Donald Hart? 7. Another Victim?
